If you have always wanted to hear the infamous “Night Run” song by the Mersh Brothers which can be found in the movie credits but not heard in the movie then you can check it out through the YouTube clip below. I think I certainly prefer “Nowhere to Run” but you can see why they used this. I must also extend a big thanks to John Garrett for finding it and letting me know. Enjoy!

After a long period of absence, I am pleased to announce that The Warriors Movie Site is now back up and running again. We had some major issues with our previous hosting company who didn’t like the Joomla platform I was using for the site. I’ve now moved the site over to WordPress and a new server so we should hopefully be ok now! I’ve had to rush this through as I needed to get off the old server. As a result, there are still some tweaks to come on the site and in the forums. As you will see, some of the pages on the site have received large updates as some of the content was getting pretty old. Keep checking back as more content will be added to the site in due course!

It is with regret that I inform you that I have had an unconfirmed report that David Shaber, who wrote the screenplay for The Warriors, and who was helping write the screenplay for the 2010 movie The Warriors, has passed away. Please find this statement from his daughter on Amazon (thanks to James Lada for making me aware of this).

I’m David Shaber’s daughter, Sam, (Samantha.) My father wrote the screenplay for The Warriors, and I’m hoping this “review” gets printed because he just passed away on Thursday morning, November 4th, of a sudden burst anneurism. With so many “Warriors” fans out there, I thought you would want to know. I’m incredibly warmed by these wonderful comments about this film and I know that if he read them (although he had barely learned how to search the internet before he died) he would chuckle in his lighthearted way and say something like “Oh, well isn’t that nice,” all-the-while refusing to take credit for any of it. But I know he deserved that credit, having taken a dark, psychological study of gang warfare and infusing it with a classic but clever and topical, good vs. evil story. (And maybe I shouldn’t admit it, but my dad didn’t really like the baseball face-paint idea which I believe was one of Walter Hill’s additions – he thought that was too unrealistic and “Hollywood”…) Anyway, I do hope the movie is re-issued with the extra scenes at some point, and for those real “followers” I just discovered that you can find a complete list of his produced titles on the Internet Movie Database (IMDb.com) if you want to check it out. The Warriors is indeed an AFFECTING picture, whether you love it or hate it. So thanks for your comments and take care, -Sam.

A company called “The Golden Closet” purchased a number of wardrobe items from Paramount Pictures a few years ago and one of the items they found was Rembrandt’s vest from The Warriors. Allen from The Golden Closet takes up the story on how the vest was acquired and restored…

How the vest was acquired: We purchased a group of unidentified wardrobe directly from Paramount Pictures Wardrobe Department several years ago. We were invited to the studio’s wardrobe department located on the Paramount lot and hand selected what we’d hoped would be key pieces of motion picture memorabilia that could be identified as screen used. Among the items we purchased were two East Gate vests that were used in “The Warriors”. One belonged to Cochise (David Harris) and was complete with the original patches. The interior of that vest had the character name “Cochese” (sic) handwritten inside. It was sold at a Profiles in History auction in 2006 for $15,000.

Information on the Rembrandt vest: The Rembrandt vest was purchased at the same time, and although the patches had been removed (most likely so the vest could be re-used in another production), fragments of the original patch set were safety pinned to it, and the stitch holes were still visible from where the original set had been sewn on. The vest had the name “Plato” handwritten inside. While none of the principle Warriors characters in the film are named Plato obviously, I later learned from a member here on the forum (and confirmed through additional research) that Marcelino Sanchez’s character “Rembrandt” was originally to be named “Plato” in early versions of the script. The size of the vest (M) was also appropriate to Rembrandt, who was one of the shorter and smaller members of the Warriors gang.

Restoration: While the fact that the patches were missing from the Rembrandt vest was unfortunate, we had several advantages to restoration in our favor. Firstly, we had the Cochise vest with original patches and also fragments of the original Rembrandt set that could be used exactly match thread color, style, and distressed condition, and size. Through our connections in the motion picture industry, we were able to locate the company who had fabricated the original patches used in the film. This company had created the original patches for Bobbie Mannix (the film’s costume designer) and still had her design sketches on file with her signature on them. The patches they fabricated for our Rembrandt vest were created using the original digital tapes that had been utilized to create the originals, and are exactly identical to the screen used sets.

The last step was hand distressing the patches to knock down their color and give them the proper “aged” look as seen in the film. We consulted a professional motion picture costumer and were able to achieve the same look as the original fragments through a gradual and lengthy process of staining and roughing, at which point the vest was fully restored.

We’re grateful to the forum members here that helped assist us with additional authentication details and facts that would have been extremely difficult and time consuming to confirm on our own, and greatly enjoy visiting the forum to share information with other members that appreciate The Warriors as much as we do.

The vest is still currently available for sale via our website www.thegoldencloset.com. For more information, please visit this link:

Owner Breanna Livie’s family has been involved in the motion picture costuming industry for three generations. Her grandfather Charles James started the first independent costume wardrobe house, Costume Rentals Corporation in the 1970’s along with her father James Livie, who later founded Eastern Costume Company, and both businesses continue to thrive and serve the entertainment industry today. Breanna’s through familiarity of the industry and extensive network of friends and contacts in the entertainment business prompted her to found The Golden Closet in 1996, and has served the global collecting community ever since.

Dabel Brothers Publishing has announced the creative team of writer David Atchison, artist Chris Dibari, and Kieran Oats as colorist for The Warriors comic book. The Warriors, the widely known cult classic movie from Paramount Pictures, based on Sol Yurick’s novel, will be adapted into comic book form come February 2009. The series will be five issues and will sprout a few offshoot series and one-shots.

“I’m really excited to be a part of the Warriors film adaptation. Chris and Keiran are both tremendous talents. My goal with the script is to keep the spirit of the film and make the translation as close as possible,” says David Atchison. “Chris and I are also going to show the strengths of the comic book medium and add some ‘effects’ that can only be added in comic book form. It’s just going to be a celebration of pop culture with a cult classic.”

David Atchison is known for many different projects, which extend from co-creating/writing Occult Crimes Taskforce with Rosario Dawson all the way to scripting the Method Man graphic novel with Method Man himself. David’s talents don’t stop there though, he is also a screenwriter, producer and journalist. He recently successfully pitched “True Believer,” an in-production back door pilot for NBC/ Universal’s Sci Fi Channel.

As for artist Chris Dibari, he broke into the industry doing a cover for DC Comics’ Robin for the “No Man’s Land” event. In 2005, Chris co-created and drew “The Hunger” with Jose Torres. Recently, Chris wrapped up drawing duties for a Starship Troopers series, as well as a Warhammer 40K issues for BOOM! Studios.

” I couldn’t be happier, I’ve been a huge fan of the movie since I first saw it on VHS at the age of 13,” says Chris Dibari. “Having David and Kieran onboard this makes it even more amazing!”

Colorist Kieran Oats is based out of Melbourne, Australia and has worked in the industry for about 4 years on such books as Midnight Kiss, GI Joe, Starship Troopers, Magician Apprentice, Transformers, Spiderman, Grimm Fairytales, Supreme and more. Kieran is a big fan of gritty sci-fi stuff but likes to try his hand at different styles, drawing from a wide variety of experience.

“I’m super excited to be working on a new project with Chris as the work we have done together before has always been a blast. And to be working on something as awesome as The Warriors, it’s going to be total pleasure and zero percent work,” says Kieran Oats.

Issue #1 of The Warriors official movie adaptation hits comic stores everywhere Feb ’09. Reserve your copy today!

Marc Ecko, Founder and Chief Creative Officer, Marc Ecko Enterprises, said, “When we started talking with Paramount about paying tribute to the movie, I kept hearing the clinking of bottles in my head and the classic line, ‘Warriors….. come out to play’. Just as we were incredibly successful with our limited edition Star Wars collection, I knew The Warriors line would also appeal to a broad range of fans who have kept the film alive all of these years”. The limited edition series will be available in distribution channels where Marc Ecko brands are available including Macy’s, Dillards, and specialty stores, as well as all *ecko unltd. retail stores and on shopecko.com.

Commenting on the deal, Michael Corcoran, President, Consumer Products & Recreation Group, said, “The Warriors continues to represent an iconic, street-hip sensibility, and the designs by Marc Ecko capture this sensibility perfectly. Fans of the film will be pleased to have access to this fashion-forward apparel.”
