Did the movie inspire the birth of gangs where you live ?
I live in a small-size urban centre (Pisa, is where the leaning tower is leaning). After boys of my generations saw the movie on TV (it should be about the the middle eighties) some gangs actually formed along the suggestions of the movie. I remember three of them. In the Italian version Luther changes his tune of voice when speaking on the phone to his mysterious friend. He keeps the person informed about facts, but it does not seem that person is personally interested in what has happened. His tune of voice turns sweet, careful, and you can hear him disintin...
