The Warriors...cheesy?

well i am responsble for 3 of my friends seeing the movie, ONE of them among us

my man germain didn't like it at first but then watched it properly and thought it was a better movie.

david thought he had seen better movies, and was dissapointed by the lack of fights(he prefers the wanderers anyway), but he thinks its OK.

and of course the other friend said it didnt look like his type of movie.....

....beats me why he likes it now.

Thw Warriors was cheezy in that it had no special effects, big budget or famous actors. But there must be plenty of cheezy movies out there cause in times before all the movies were like that. There's lots of flicks with people who later became stars but were good actors in their early "cheezy" movies. And there have been plenty of good scripts without crap blowing up every 5 minutes since movies began.

The thing about "cult classics" is that some people "get it" and others just don't and never will. That's their loss.

some of it was legit, some fantasy, but i still remember the commercial's when i was a kid, and i remember thinking, oh man!!!!!!

and it's as cool to me now, as it was then.

yeah i got that too...seems to me anyone in their 20s seem to say that.
i keep asking them if they are talking about the lame-ass TV version where it hacked to shit for some reason (i guess like alot of these films that go to TV..they were 'EDITED FOR TV' probaly 20 years ago. they never seem to go back to make another edit for todays tv standards) im sure if they look at it today, it wouldnt get "hacked up" so much, except for the swears.
still though, alot of these 20 something people grew up with CGI films
and bullshit like "PULP FICTION"...dont seem to appreciate a great film like THE WARRIORS...fuck 'em..what do they know

The movie rocks!Don't matter when it was made,it is a great movie.

Those are the original classic costumes which actualy make the gangs look hardcore.I mean,didn't you ever watch other 70's gang movies,most of them have these kind of outfits.

The one thing I found cheesy about The Warriors is that Luther never gives a straight answer for killing Cyrus, but I'm guessing he did it because The Rogues are against the whole 'one gang rules the city' logic. I'm showing it a friend or two next saturday so we'll see if he likes it or not.

To me this film will always be a classic. It has a certain feel to it that makes it watchable anytime. I rate it up there with other cult classics like: Reservoir Dogs, Repo Man, Dawn of the Dead '78, The Road Warrior, etc. Anyone that enjoys these films is head and shoulders above most movie audiences.
