Where were you when you first saw THE WARRIORS?

Post by MasterPayne »

I was 16 and living on the streets of Toronto when I saw the movie in a all night theater. I would get enough money for the show and sleep there. It was better than the park bench. I fell in love with the movie because it was so familuar to me in so many ways. I never graduated from school because I had a gang that would wait for me to kick the crap out of me.
I would watch for my bus from 2 floors up and make a run for it when the bus came.
They would chase me but if I made the bus I was safe. I was brought up very poor and had to steal to survive so I know what it feels like to be without. I had my nose broken badly in a gang fight with hockey stickes be for I was 9. I learned to fight early in life because of nessety. I know it is only a movie but I can relate to it in so many ways. It reminds me of my life.

I can relate to your story man. I grew up much in the same way. I never actually lived on the streets, but we were poor. I did a lot of fighting though, and had to learn how to handle myself in tough situations at a young age. Anyways....

I was 14, and my dad had me look for a VHS copy of The Warriors on eBay. It was only a coupla dollars. It came in the mail a couple weeks later, and he was so excited. He had me sit down in the living room and popped it in... and I was immediately mesmerized. I immediately loved it... and I can bet that it does have a lot to do with the familiarity of my own experiences in the streets.

'kay so i'm playing GTA:san andreas right, and my dad comes in the room and tell's me a good film to watch is the warriors. i asked him what it was about and i was suddenly interested. in easter 2005 i went down st. georges arcade downtown, found a copy and bought it.

i watched it with my brother, and it was the single, greatest film, i had ever seen! i watched it at 8.00pm and it finished somewhere around 9ish. a few days later, i went on the internet and found this site. my dad hooked me up with an email and sighned me up. and here i am, making my way towards 1000 posts.

i've had alot of problems with the warriors too though, i showed one of my friends the movie and, he just hasnt been the same since. he started creating gangs and, making weapons, i regret introducing him to it. before i watched the movie though, i was some shy blonde kid who got bullied alot, the warriors changed my life but not the way it changed my friend, it inspired me to never give up. i owe the movie alot.

Well I was sitting in my house about 1am and everyone else was asleep. I was jsut flicking through the channels when I came to Sky Cinema, which normally shows old, very old, movies. So I turned it to the channel and BAM! This big creepy yellow face appears. I got the fright of my life!. Somehow i knew it was the Warriors and my friend had been talking about it the day before. So I watched the rest of the movie then bought the DVD.

Well i was 12 and i was watching VH1 and they were showing I love the 70's and i been watching and wanted to see how it look back then. So i was busy then they showed the warriors and i was like wow cool movie. Going ahead one year and the hype of game coming out i was like cool and i knew there was a movie about it. So i asked my dad and he said he watched like 15 times when he was in a gang and they liked it. So i was like can u see if they selling it and he said sure. So it was a Saturday and i was waking up and he called and said " Ivan i got it" I was like yes. And he came home and the moments were awsome. I thank my dad eveyday he derves it.
