Mercy & Cyrus
I have to say, Cyrus's speech was probably the best acting in the film.
"When we get there that's when we've made it."
Mercy & Cyrus
Cyrus was a HUGE part of the film, it needed him. The film would've survived just fine without Mercy, but at least she helped them fight the Punks and she wasn't all scared. She needed a change, the Warriors were everything the Orphans were not and she liked that excitement......plus Swan really liked her and she became his girl.
Are you just gonna let any army walk in any time they feel like it? Pretty soon every gang is just gonna boogie right in, soldier right through.
Mercy & Cyrus
Well when the warriors seperated swans scenes would have had no dialogue without mercy
"I'll shove that bat up your ass and turn you into a popsicle" - Greatest line of all time

Mercy & Cyrus
You're right, but what I'm getting at is........if Mercy had never been in the script to begin with, I don't think we would've cared too much. But the whole concept of the Cyrus character was very important to the film. Dig it?

Cyrus was a major part of why the Warriors having to leave coney in the first place. So he was needed in the movie. The first time i saw the Warriors ,I hated Mercy with her" you just going to let a army just soilder on thur" speech, but over the years and watching it many time. I can appreciate the fact that her presence shows just hard the Warriors are. I mean they wanted to do things peacfully , but then you hear Swan saying" we are going to walk right thru these guys"and then they take their girl in the process! Man those are some dudes you dont want to mess with!
"You WARRIORS are good, real good!"

Cyrus was awesome, how can you not enjoy him?
Mercy brings us a great social insight reflecting time, place and condition.....
You can't take either out and i guess disliking someone is a personal thing, that cop that got Ajax in the face irritates me.

Mercy & Cyrus
i find mercy was pretty pointless. now if there was something like she brings them back to this place and it turns out shes a lizzie and then there like good job mercy and she dosent know wat is going on and then she has to pick, the warriors or her gang and she picks the warriors and saves them. then like swan trusts her and they like her and stuff

Mercy shook her a$$ and started the conflict with the Orphans. If it wasn't for her, Ol lazy eye would have let them boogie right on in.

I think Mercy was needed as Swan obviously became close to her and made him question if the Gang lifew was really for him....He said maybe i'll just take off.I always wondered what became of Swan and Mercy as its their 2 Silhouettes(sp) you see at the end of the rolling credits-Did they take off?

They most likely didn't. Even if they wanted to their situation wouldn't allow them. We all know that Mercy had no money and I sure Swan was the same. They stayed with the gang and they all took a break from the streets for a week.

Re: Mercy & Cyrus
Mercy isn't in the original book, so you could make an argument that she's not esential to the story. But on the other hand the Baseball Furies and The Punks weren't in the original book either, so are they non-essential? I don't think so. The point of Mercy is to add another factor to complicate The Warriors getting home. The more complicated the journey, the more drama, and theoretically a better movie. Plus it sets up for the scenes of social observation like (Prom couple vs. Swan and Mercy and "Maybe I'll just take off").
That being said, would I have replaced the complication of Mercy with the complication of a Savage Hun rumble and a Hi Hat rumble given the chance? Yes, yes I would have.
