I believe that theres more than just 9 Warriors. I mean, sure they are probably Cleons best guys that have been mmbers the longest but I'm almost certain there are more that are others in Rank to keep the Coney Turf safe.

i'm not straying from the movie...

in various stills from the movie there is a large mural on a wall in coney island saying "the warriors"...
you don't see this in the movie but it is relevant cos it's featured in the original daytime begining of the movie...
that massive mural on the coney island bathhouse also has those names spayed underneath...i am assuming they are the names of other warriors

of course them names might have already been sprayed on the wall...but i like to think they are the names of other warriors

Anyway, I'm not saying your theory is not good... but you should ask Walter Hill to be sure. In my question I gave you a clue... The Book... The Warriors... I mean, Sol Yurick's wrote The Warriors were 120+!!!
... and even if The Movie is different... it's always Based on the Novel by Sol Yurickl--->u can see that during opening theme song scene!!!
Anyway in my opinion Hill didn't want we to understand there were other Warriors in Coney!!! Why??? Cause, if he did, where were they the morning after???
Infact Hill didn't use that scene you quoted, cause during that scene Cleon speaks about other Warriors!!!

Maybe someone else (before, during and after the movie) sprayed his name on the wall, but all of us won't ever know all the "Warriors Wall Names List"... they knocked down the "bath house"!!!

good detail but this is the warriors movie forum...and i maintain any scenes filmed are relevant...this topic is regarding other warriors so my comments are at home here...
even in scenes left in we are told theres more than 9 members to each gang...
this is mentioned sirus's speech...
i doubt sirus would even bother sending an emissary inviting a gang with nine members to his meeting...
and certainly a gang with 9 members wouldn't be "on the map"

the warriors were known...although strangely not to masai...but certainly to sirus who invited them to the meeting...

luther saw fox from the front and recognised the colours of the warriors...he was blinded by the light when foxs warbird became visible...the lizzies too saw the warriors from the front...the furies too...the turnbulls might have just read the back of the vests but they seemed to recognise them straight away...

most people would agree that the boardwalk scene is gospel...cleon says 120

Yeah I didn't wrote 120, but other Warriors... but I also posted that scene link, so in that link Cleon says 120... and all of us know it... again, you pretend...
Then, all that stuff you said about The Warriors well known... etc... only 9... etc... Cyrus's speech and Masai... etc... all the other gangs... etc... thanks a lot 4 the explanation... I thought the Movie was about a Rock Concert!!! :badgrin:
So if you say that the movie is the movie, and the book is the book, I tell you (at this point I think you don't know it) that "The Warriors" sprayed on that wall, was not there before the Movie.

i'm not pretending...or being funny...just stating my opinion...the movie set design/art guys obviously sprayed warriors on the front of that bath house...i believe they also sprayed a few other names on there too...but it's also very likely that those tags were there already...theres a lot of work there,many hours so it was done for a reason...aesthically it looks like the local gang has done the whole lot...that is the desired effect...
one thing that might betray the truth it is the fact i don't see any character names sprayed on there...

i've never seen or read anything about walter hill cutting out that scene cos it referenced other warriors...the only reason i've ever heard is that a daytime scene didn't seem to fit...

you seem to be agree'ing with me...but my posts arn't the ones with a sarcastic tone...

the gang arn't even called the warriors in the book,the plotline is slightly different...different character names etc...the movie stands alone and is based on a book that is in turn based on another story...

I think we can all agree that Cleon refers to other Warriros when he adresses them, and sure, some of the warriros seem to know each other from before, but they're all aprt of the same gang, of course they would know a little something about each other.

I think it's reasonable to believe that wany warriors scouts or patrols were either taken down by The Riffs army, retreated or maybe just weren't out that night. Wasting EVERY warrior seems very unlikely, the Warriors were probabkly under assault all night, many probably even assumed that the 9 were dead.

Ok chrismasonic, if you say you don't pretend... and all the rest... maybe you too easily misunderstand me (I think you know what I mean!!!)... and anyway I think you quote "The Warriors" facts (everything about), like if you was the only one knowing them!!! ... and it's not so!!! But you told me "no", so it's ok... come back now to the topic!!!

I mean, no character names on the wall... and that's what I think... i.e.: all of us can assume The Warriors were 120+ because of Cyrus speech and some else scene where we can understand there're other Warriors, so because of the book!!!
Even if, and sure all of us 1000% know, the movie is not the book. But it's true that Yurick's work (yeah, based on Senofonte's ANABASI...so???) was Hill's inspiration. You cannot assume they were 120+ because of those sprayed names on the wall!!!
Even if, like Ninth Delegate posted, there's "Fox" sprayed on that wall.
About the deleted scenes, and I like every del scene, they are not in the movie. If Hill cut them, there'll be a good reason... yeah apart the "daylight" one.
If Hill had used, 4 istance, the boardwalk one... at the end of the movie we should have seen Cleon's girl, some else Warrior... etc... but like we know... NOBODY!!! Because of this I think Hill wanted we to understand The Warriors were somehow alone (even if, OK, it's strange). It would also be enough if a Warrior, I don't know... Snow, had said: "Where are the guys?"... like we know nobody said nothing!!!

See, the fact is that every theory is good... but we can "ground" our theories on FACTS!!!
So, to me, the first fact is the movie... then the book... not the game (if someone thought it is)... and the deleted scenes? Those, like 1979 whole movie, are Hill's ideas, but even if he recut the movie, he didn't use them in 1979.
Real reasons? He only can know them... but somehow, it's not just obvious how many The Warriors really were. I mean 9 sure, 120+? Seeing the movie (and the del scene not used!!!) we only assume/know: Other Warriors!!!
It's reasonable to think they were 9 only or 120+, but to me to think they were 120+ is not sure... same 4: other Warriors under attack... and all the rest!!!
I mean I also do have this doubt, but the clues we do have are not enough!!!
... and anyway if there were or not other Warriors, in 1979 Movie is not preeminent!!! Tell me if it's!!!
But yeah, it's right if all of us ask ourself about other Warriors!!! It's maybe one of the best question ever!!!

i'm not sure of the timeline...

it's dark when they get on the train and dark when they get off

it would be fair to imagine that if sirus was shot at about 9 o'clock (could be later/earlier)

the riffs would probably have some mentalists in coney island within an hour looking for warriors blood,after all he wants them alive if possible if not wasted...

the riffs we see on the beach may have been there all night...but thats a maybe...i don't think they were

masai certainly wasn't cos we see him in his dressing gown a few times during the night at riffs hq so maybe he went and met them once he'd learned of the rogues involvment...again,i think he took a riff mobile in the morning

how did they know to find they rogues at coney island?...not sure

did the riffs first go to rogues land looking for luther?...again not sure

i would imagine that the other warriors were under assault all night from either the riffs or neighbouring gangs alerted by the riffs radio message...all of the other gangs in new york were out to do the riffs work

no one seemed to be taking any notice of the alive if possible stipulation...
