Re: Anabasis
Thanks. I think I'd read the Wikipedia summary - am I missing much by not delving into the whole text? I might be overestimating its entertainment value as anything other than a historical document... Maybe that's why someone had to make it about New York street gangs to create interest.
Re: Anabasis
Anyway I think a Movie, like "300", about this Great Historical Event would be Great. Ancient Times, Men and Warriors. WOW!!!
Re: Anabasis
As long as it's not like Oliver Stone's "Alexander" watching that was like discovering a cure for insomnia.

Re: Anabasis
Being a bit of an "Alexander the Great" nut my self, I agree that film could have been
better. I was really excited when I heard it was coming out. then pretty disappointed
after watching it.

Re: Anabasis
I know guys, Alexander is maybe too much "Mystical" (is it the right word?).
I'd say Anabasis like 300, The Gladiator and/or what about Troy?
Come on, don't tell me those aren't Good Movies. LOL!!!

Re: Anabasis
I agree, I think 300, Gladiator and Troy were great films especially as there was plenty of action in the films. I think the lack of action in Alexander is what let it down for me though to be fair to the director it was a biographical movie and not an action movie. For any fans of "sword and sandals" films check out Centurion by Neil Marshall, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Re: Anabasis
I enjoyed "Centurion". I thought it was quite good. I wonder if this new
film "The Eagle" will be any good?

Re: Anabasis
I've read acouple of reviews on "The Eagle" which haven't been great but I'll judge it for myself when it comes out at the end of the month.
Re: Anabasis
Centurion (2010) and The Eagle (2011)? Well, give me one/two weeks to watch them.

Re: Anabasis
Too true Godfather, you can't beat Jason and the Argonauts, Talos, the Harpies and the skeleton warriors used to give me nightmares as a kid!
Re: Anabasis
Great scene fighting the skeletons, as a kid i threw some chicken bones on the ground hoping they would turn to skeletons. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yYeZMx1Y7UScaley wrote:Too true Godfather, you can't beat Jason and the Argonauts, Talos, the Harpies and the skeleton warriors used to give me nightmares as a kid!
