Is it painted on the same spot where once stood the bathhouse that held the sign across its facade?

No, the new mural is near Deno's amusement area, where the Wonder Wheel is located. The "Warriors" logo was painted on Stauch's Bathhouse. This building was sadly demolished in the early nineties. Like a lot of Coney Island properties, it was taken down before it attained landmark status.

Recently the long-dormant Thunderbolt rollercoaster and its adjoining ramshackle wooden house, famously depicted in Annie Hall, were destroyed mere days before they would have become protected landmarks. This was done to pave the way for the building of the minor league ballpark that houses the Brooklyn Cyclones. The lot where Stauch's once stood is part of this area.

FYI, Al Capone was said to have served as a bouncer at Stauch's and Heavyweight champ Jack Johnson fought there. Johnson is the subject of Ken Burns' new PBS documentary.

You know of any sites that have pictures with the Warriors mural on the Bathhouse? Other ten just from the movie?

Have not been able to turn any up yet. However, on the PBS "American Experience" episode on Coney Island, there is a modern day daytime shot of Stauch's (shortly before it was demolished, I guess) and the Warriors logo is still visible, though faded. The show looks to have been produced in the late 80s-early 90s. It is occasionally replayed on PBS stations, though that does not really help those of you in the U.K. Stauch's was razed in 1991.

Thanks for your response man. The last time I was there it was last winter . It was terribly cold and I could not do the board walk. It is amazing how things change dramatically over the years. One of your observations, regarding the laws about landmarks, I thought they had been in effect long before that. Maybe they only included New York City and not their bordering sites. What is astonishing about Coney Island is that here once stood the biggest and most famous park of all time, Luna Park.

What I appreciate the most of your post is the point you make about Al Capone actually being a bouncer at the bathhouse (which you even name!).
