Incidentally when The Warriors was filmed there was a second coaster in Coney at the time (but it may have been closed down then, I'm not sure and I forget the name of it), and you can see it in the film but it has been knocked down since.
Yeah, the one you're talking about is the one on Cleon's left shoulder when he is talking to his girlfriend .
Have you by any chance remembered the name of it?
Let's thank Odin for the existance of the Cyclone!

"This is what we fought all night to get back to?"
It's called the Thunderbolt and was torn down in 2000.
That's why it's top of my list to go see what's left of Coney this year.
I know i've plugged the CI Lost and Found book quite a lot and i'm not related/friends with the Author it's just a shame to see that most of what was in Coney has gone.
I went to NYC in May 1999 (on a holiday) and convinced the wife to take the D train to stillwell ave. we got of the train, walked out of the subway, and turned left then headed toward the amusement park. The wonder wheel stands out like a beacon to all warriors fans....pity it was closed....the aquarium next door just didn't fill the void left by the park being closed..so we sat on the boardwalk & i imagined they boys (oh & mercy) walking along the beach after making it home...
when we were on the train, I tried to imagine the boys having to travel this route making it back from the bronx...we caught the train at 58th & 7th (from memory) and Im sure it was the D...but i am sure it would have been a different route to the one the boys took, cause we didnt have to change trains at union sq. like they did.
only found this site today...i pulled the vidoe out, blew the dust off it, watched it, then thought i have another go at tracking the book down via google...and found this site....its bloody fantastic, i cant believe there is others around the world as fanatical about this movie as i am...
great to be here & great to exchage views....
cheers

Yeah, it is a true shame man.
Man, you should see how much my neighborhood has changed in 20 years. Coincidentally, by pure chance, I was fortunate to get on a block fair, a black and white photograph (circa 1910) of the adjacent avenue to my street. They were just building the subway. Nevertheless, some buildings look very much like the ones we presently have. My point is that time changes a lot of things so fast, but there should always be something left as a reminder of something big that happened in the past. In my opinion, for many of us is painful to let go of the great past, including The Warriors...
Cheer up man!

Been there, done it and got myself a Coney Island T Shirt
Riverside and 72nd street photos to appear on the site soon. I'm doing a map for all boppers to use when they visit New York so they can see all the filming scenes
