You first man. You were the one to specifically name my line, while, there are plenty of other off topic lines. I'll let it go if you do.

The more I think about this, the more I think they do it Shao-Lin style. Two candidates fight, not to the death, but until it's clear who has won. Then the loser of that fight, just becomes a regular Warrior again.

i think snow would have been warchief, he was a good fighter and had good knowledge of all the other gangs, if the t=fox was still around aswell, he wouldve been a good candidate aswell

A New Warchief

Post by Real Warrior NYC »

Here's my humble opinion of the entire discussion.

1) Cleon was the absolute leader of The Warriors. He wasn't just "warchief for the night" or any other subcategory.

2) During missions where Cleon was not present, he would appoint a warchief to be in charge of the small group dispatched to handle the task (as it was in the videogame).

3) Prior to the conclave in The Bronx, Cleon chose Swan to be the next Warlord/Warchief in case of his demise (which coincidentally occured). Cleon believed that out of all of the other Warriors, Swan held the best combination of leadership ability, sound judgement, and fighting skill.

4) The delegates chosen amongst the Warriors to go to the conclave had to have been the top 9 members. Cleon wouldn't have picked the B Team to represent the Warriors in such a "big item".

5) If Swan did decide to "take off" with Mercy, I think the next logical choice for Warlord/Warchief would have to be Snow. Snow may have been the silent type, however he did express sound judgement (unlike some of the other Warriors) and fighting skill (close to if not equal to Ajax's).

Reasons for not choosing the other Warriors

- Fox - Would have been a good choice, except for 2 reasons:
a) He was killed by the cop in the subway.
b) He appeared to have no fighting ability.

To his defense, he was the scout/recon man for the Warriors. He gathered the intel on other gangs and accomplished necessary tasks. He also expressed sound judgement. However he was manhandled & overwhelmed by one cop, who eventually killed him. By observing this, it's fair to say that he couldn't rumble well and would not have been that effective in the fights against the Furies or the Punks. If Fox could fight like Snow, Swan, Cochise, or Ajax, I would have picked him to be the successor.

- Rembrandt - For obvious reasons. Too "soft around the edges" & too inexperienced. Except for that really hard punch in the bathroom stall, Rembrant did nothing impressive in terms of demonstrating fight skills. To his defense, he did have sound judgement and did not think with his johnson, unlike Cochise & Vermin.

- Vermin - Mediocre fighter, poor judgement skills, & complains way too much to be a leader. However, he's perfect as your average, supportive solider. No leader should let himself be caught with his pants down and almost turned into Swiss Cheese by the Lizzies.

- Cochise - Pretty good fighter, but no judgement. In the same boat as Vermin...thinking with the johnson instead of the brain. Not the leader type, but a damn good soldier.

- Cowboy - No leadership qualities, scared to wear the Warrior colors while being so far away from Coney, but a fairly good fighter. Although he knows to avoid certain traps & dangers, he is not the type to lead others in order to build their rep.

- Ajax - For obvious reasons. If Ajax became Warchief after Cleon was wrecked, all of the Warriors would have either:
a) rumbled with all of the Turnbull AC's and would have been wasted by them
b) rumbled with all of the Orphans, despite being outnumbered 30 to 8
c) or would have led the whole gang into the Lizzies hangout and get wasted there.

So this leaves us with Snow. The best solution amongst the surviving Warriors.

I would say Snow. Vermin doesn`t seem like he could handle the job for leadership role. But you guys have a good point about didn`t they say a family of 100 men?

I'd say there are many more Warriors who could do a good job as WarLord when they get back, Cleon probably even has many lined up to replace him if anything did ever happen.  I don't think he brought his best men there, if he brought a few potential war lords who have big personalitys and a strong opinion on everything there would be mayhem, look at what happened with Ajax and Swan.

I do see your point, however big personalities & strong opinions don't necessarily make good leadership.  Ajax had both and I doubt Cleon would ever choose him as a successor.  I do think that Cleon chose his top soldiers to go to the conclave.  It's like a U.N. meeting.  Would you choose an "average joe" to represent your country or your top representative?

Snow shows a leadership quality when the five guys meet up to go look for Swan.  So I would say Snow.

Out of all the Warriors who made it back, i'd think Snow would get the war chief role. He showed great qualities of being a team player, like when he went back to see if Ajax was alright. Not once did he challenge the ideas of Swan instead he soldiered on playing his part in every fight and helping the other warriors.  :D
