Warriors out of place.
Warriors out of place.
Hey everyone i watched the movie again for the first time in years, but i noticed that alot of the Warriors have weird roles, like Cowboy is Soldier the Middle, wich i dont think fits him to well, Snow isnt Soldier the middle but is music man.
I dont think these roles fit IMO.

nothing against cowboy or rembrandt, but sometimes i do wonder if the warriors didn't have a couple of more tough looking dudes to go to the conclave than these two.

I guess they didn't expect any trouble on the way, so Cleon didn't bother too much who's he going to send to the conclave.Lion wrote: nothing against cowboy or rembrandt, but sometimes i do wonder if the warriors didn't have a couple of more tough looking dudes to go to the conclave than these two.

Well i can kind of understand Rembrandt since he was just the Artist, but mainly its Cowboy who seems out of place.

"soldier the middle" is not a role; it's direction
like "oil the vest", or "cook the goose", or... well, you get the point

Maybe Cowboy was one of the founding members of the gang, or a good friend of Cleon's. According to the game, that's how he got in.$now4Ever wrote: Well i can kind of understand Rembrandt since he was just the Artist, but mainly its Cowboy who seems out of place.

Re: Warriors out of place.
i thought we've defended cowboy on here before? didnt someone say he wasnt too bad in the bathroom fight?
i was thinking you know, the warriors probably weren't necessarily a well respected gang before the night of the conclave - its not like the riffs were like "oh the warriors :doubt: just like them to instigate some heavy shhhh". like i say just a thought but maybe they were a middle of the road gang who really came into their own and proved themselves as the best because of what they had to go through to get home.
i think having characters like rembrandt (who as much as i love him is obviously a weaker fella) make it easier to relate to the characters, like you could be with them or in their position. Like if they were all a bunch of big ass skinheads you might not be able to relate that much.
I'm running a fever today so i've probably given some irrelevant ideas into the mix but yeah that was just some thoughts o' mine

Re: Warriors out of place.
The Warriors employ what i call (unless i stole it from somewhere!) Conglomerated Hero Theory.
It's a unit, acting as one, with a singular goal
And, like all of us, there are multiple facets to our personalities - each of the Warriors represent those facets
Just as in life, through our journeys, we are changed, immutably
Traits that we had when we younger days don't always survive - we grow we adapt
In the same way, not all the Warriors make it home; they are changed, immutably.

I agree that they didn't expect trouble - so they didn't bring all brawlers. That much testosterone could have led to trouble. Could you imagine 9 Ajaxes? They would have gotten into a brawl along the way to the conclave.
Cowboy was a little nervous in the intro, as was Rembrandt. Maybe they were newer members, getting an introduction to a meeting with other gangs - and ended up having to prove their worth and step up to the plate.

No, I think Ajaxes is correct. Ajaxii would be the correct plural for the singular Ajaxus, however. But there wasn't a character whose name ended in -us. Now, if the names were more closely reflective of the original Anabasis story they were based on....4nik8 wrote:9 Ajaxi??Scurvy Dog wrote: Could you imagine 9 Ajaxes?

Re: Warriors out of place.
Obviously Rembrandt had to go, cuz he was the artist, or tagger. He had to
mark that The Warriors had been there ( although any 5 year old could have
made that W he painted, I know he was in a hurry and was just throwing
something up quickly, but at least make the lines relatively straight ). He
was definitely like the little brother being taken on with the older, more
experienced dudes too. I guess that Cleon thought it would be OK.
Cowboy may not be big, but he is tough enough, and he has heart. Catching
a bat to the noggin during the Furie's chase could have happened to anybody.
He was exhausted from running, and got caught off guard. He does possess
an important trait that matters alot- loyalty. Anyhow, I think he redeemed
himself in The Punks fight quite nicely.
I also agree with Union Jack, that The Warriors were probally a somewhat
middle of the road gang, and are not supposed to be a full lineup of
super badasses. Also 4nik8's point about pulling together as a unit, and
combining everyone's talents to overcome and survive is kinda what
the movie is about.

Re: Warriors out of place.
I've always personally felt like the Warriors seemed to be almost "too nice" and to "good looking" to really fit in, imo other than Ajax the rest of the Warriors seem to friendly. Would you rather run into Cowboy and Vermin or a couple Turnbulls?
