Hey, I was wondering if anyone had come across inter-textual references to the Warriors in other films, TV series etc.?

Off the top of my head the "Come Out To Plaaayyyy!" line is spoofed in an episode of the Simpsons when Homer is looking for the last piece of a puzzle: "Puzzle piece, come out to plaayyy" And in an episode of Sealab 2021 called Green Fever, where Sparks shouts "Sufferers, come out to plaayyy" -can download episode here:

Anyone come across any others?

That quote from Chapelle's Show, I thought it was something like:

"Japan's sending Playstations. Stankonia promised to drop bombs over Baghdad." Or something like that.

Theres an Australian comedy film called Fat Pizza wherein a pizza delivery guy beats up a Ronald McDonald lookalike and finds himself being chased by 100 more. There is also a (very loose) approximation of the Furies Chase music over the scene.

Also, this isn't a visual reference but a musical one.

There is a Sonic Youth track called Sunday BUT not the version thats on their Hundred Leaves album. Its the different version that is on the soundtrack for a film called Suburbia.

It really reminds me of De Vorzons classic incidental music for The Warriors.

It was the film not the TV series.

Fat Pizza is great! You'll be able to get the DVD in Australia.

PS Whereabouts in Oz are you?

I'm sure most here are already aware of this, but a previous game of Rockstar's, Manhunt, was said to be inspired by The Warriors. You've got an assortment of "colorful" gangs that you have to deal with, which definitely gives the game a 'Warriors feel, and the protagonist is also just trying to get the heck out of harm's way.

The biggest reference I've seen to The Warriors comes early in the game, when you're faced with a gang called "The Hoods." On the back of a Hood's jacket was a Furies logo.

Probably the biggest reference to the "Warriors" continues to this day.."Can You Dig It?", as used by Cyrus in the film, has been used by Pro Wrestler/Sports Entertainer Booker T. (wCw, Harlem Heat) for years now. He is currently on the Smackdown! Brand in the WWE as most of you know or don't know..Incidentally, his entrance and exit theme music is none other than Kraftwerk's "Sex Object" (from the "Electric Cafe" album). Booker T. the Houston, TX. native, himself has admitted that he is a long time fan of the film, and continues to pay homage to the cult classic everytime he steps into a WWE wrestling ring. There have been so many references in the past, ins ongs, in movies, in t.v., commercials, etc. but this strikes me as the ultimate reference cause it has been done for so long, and is still going. Peace.
