Weekly, the NY TIMES Critics Pick videos to do a video review of. Last week was our little movie. Nothing that we all didn't know (except that it knocked “Star Wars” out of the top position at the box office when released) but good to see it still talked about and great that it is by the NY TIMES. I love this quote by a poster below the article:
The opening scene of the West End train coming into Stillwell Avenue with the Wonder Wheel lit up in the early night should have alerted the knowledgeable viewer to their impending descent into Wonderland!
This poster I think has it wrong....all wrong. Was it not RIVERSIDE PARK, not CENTRAL PARK:
I was friends with Sol Yurick, author of The Warriors, back in the day when the movie was being filmed. The major scene where all the gangs meet was filmed in Central Park on the Upper East Side around 10PM. My wife shot lots of color photos of the shoot. Walter Hill lived just up the street from me on East 78th St. and despite the dystopian theme, the filming of the movie had a party-like, neighborhood feel.

Re: NYTIMES.com Critics’ Picks Video: ‘The Warriors"
was there ever any doubt that it wasn't NY!they never tried to hide it."the warriors takes place in a violent and dystopian landscape that looks an awful lot like new york city in the 1970s"
