11 years forward and still using out of date and incorrect info.
I've always wondered which gang was the jones street boys. We can only speculate till new evidence comes along.

Okay My first post, this movie is one of my top five. Right from the start. I always had a weakness for the New York of the 70’s. The gritty streets. For example Death Wish Charles Bronson. French Connection.

This question been killing me, the gang the Rogues, Luther who shot Cyrus never gave a good answer why he killed him . At the end Swann asks him why.

My theory is if you look at the end Luther try’s to shoot Swann, because he is a coward and will not fight man to man. But if you look at Luther’s vest he has a badge on the front of it. I believe this is a way for the director to hint that Luther was in trouble with the police and gave up the meeting and might of made a deal with them to take out Cyrus. By the way who was Luther calling throughout the movie? It wasn’t the gangs , To me that would of been too obvious. Just a theory.

The theory was Luther was phoning 1 of NY's crime bosses, who was using the Rogues to eliminate any potential problems from the Riffs taking over turf (remember Cyrus said they'd tax the crime syndicates)

In 1 of the scripts for the 90s remake (which never happened), the Rogues were rogue cops.

Wow, I had no idea there was going to be a remake in the 90s.

Sorry, was a slip on the keyboard. Meant to say 00s remake (would be either 03 or 04 time period before Tony Scott came on board.)

No problem, didn't know that was going to be a thing either. Do you have a link or any info on that?

It was on Latinoreview (not sure if that site is still going). I didn't have my own pc back then, so some things that I saved on college computers, got wiped off before getting chance to back up to floppy. I'd like to get my hands on as many drafts that's out there. The 1st remake of sorts that I remember being announced, was the biker movie that had Wesley Snipes lined up as the lead. Working title was something like "Long way home".
