Okay so me and my teacher where talking(we are big fans of the movie) and he said how the gangs in The Warriors would have been scary in that time but in the modern world they would be laughed at.
So my question is that if you saw some baseball furie, some high-hats or possibly some Warriors would you be scared or would you be laughing at 'em?
Me personally? Yeah because now-a-days kids all dress up like wannabe gangsters so it's hard to tell them apart but if you see some dudes in baseball uniforms looking like they are gonna take care of business I'd take the long way home.

The high hats would be hard not to laugh at, if you passed them by on the street youd keep a straight face until they were gone then let out a laugh. The Furies would leave a "wtf" expression on my face. The Warriors I dont think would be taken seriously their vests just look to dated, thinking that though youd wake up a couple minutes later with no teeth

Same here

i feel ya this is a good question because back then those gangs just brawled mostly and were known by their jackets and in that time u knew wearin a jacket like that meant u were a gang member. But now u have to be similar to a crip or blood to look threatnin or in a gang no gang is good enough to just brawl. thats why i always have second thoughts on makin the warriors in real life. but soo nwell be feared.

there vest look like most motercycle clubs, my fathers part of one of the largest clubs here in maine...and besides a "bottom rocker" which in most cases has your state and ,MC after it...the warriors vest look alot like a mothercycle club, and there centerpatch (as club members call it) has a strong look to the Hells Angel mothercycle clubs center patch
just figured id toss it out there

Im sure dressed like that and being a gang, they would be picked up by the police before anyone "could" laugh or be scared of em.

Aahhh, the 70s were so different. That look was tuff, also take into consideration that these were New York gangs and gangs like that go back a 100 years at least. I think it has to do with all the culture and different ethnic backrounds, perhaps that's why they were all so distinct in their look and theme.

If the high hats were around today they'd be doin mime on street corners. couldn't be taken seriously as a gang. The furies would get some strange looks too. They spend too much time on the look to be scary now. I agree if the ac's were around people would keep their distance. They just look mean. no need for make up, just skinheads and a big dirty van to cruise in.

You gotta remember that the film was originally gonna be set 'sometime in the future' so the gangs were ment to look otherworldly. But I agree that some of the gangs would be laughed at if they were on the street today, like the High Hats and the Savage Huns.

I agree, they're not very inconspicuous. I mean it wouldn't be hard to identify them in a line-up. 'Could the guy dressed as a mime step forward please?'.
As for the Furies, I don't think many people would be openly laughing at them. Not while they're wielding baseball bats.

if any of those gangs were on the streets today people would be laughing at a distance not when theyre right in front of them no matter which gang it was.someones comes swinging a baseball bat at you i,m sure you wouldnt be stood there laughing unless you were blind drunk.gangs are an object that arent to be taken lightly.my opinion no i wouldnt laugh at any gang nor would i say anything to them.i value my teeth too much and dont fancy having to pick them up off of the floor.
looking at the way people style themselves today realistically the look of the turnbulls does exist in the white and black people who shave all their hair off and hang around in their selected groups whether its going to the pub or just going into town.on the other hand you do get several of them who will give the mouth and get their cronies to back them up and egg them on.so in my theory the turnbull a.c.s have left fiction and entered reality in the form of modern skinheads.
for anyone on this site who has a bald head there is no malice on behalf intended towards you unless you act in the way of the above mentioned sentence.

´hehe

"Laughing but at a distance"...yeah, maybe and quietly too because you can never judge a book by it's cover...and looks, even silly ones can be decieving
