Riffs Vs Turnbulls

Ok It seems to me that I was under the illusion as a child that the gangs that went to see Cyrus were made up of just those 9 guys. I now, of course, know they were just delegates of much bigger gangs. So, those Riffs, which used to seem so great in number, don't seem so big. Count them. There is less than 120. The ACs looked like some desperate dudes. Anyway, I think that full strength, many gangs could have taken on the Riffs. Along those lines, If the warriors had 111 other guys in CI, where were they that morning?

The morning after or the deleted scene morning?

Well, when they get back from the night of horror, the other warriors do't exactly know where the 9 are, so they're probably either sleeping (since it's early) or not outside.

The Turnbulls were rough looking, big and intimidating, But when I first saw the movie "79" The turnbulls looked like retards. All muscle and no brains. The riffs seemed organized and diciplined.

For some reason I have a hard time picturing more Furies than the ones we see in the movie. Because if there were more then why don't the Furies we see bring them when they go to their hideout to get bats?

When the Furies are chasing the Warriors [the Baseball Fury chase] there are about a dozen Furies...is that the total number of them...I'd think all the Furies would be chasing the Warriors...also there's about a hundred or so Riff's shown...the Warriors numbers were 120 +...The Riff's were supposed to be the biggest gang :?

Yes, Cochise even says that, I just don't see how they're the biggest if the Warriors have 120+. Also, I know the other Warriors didn't know, but, you'd think that even in 1979, they would be able to communicate to some other warriors to raise the alarm. That would be another good scene, picture it, before the Rogue/Riff scene(which I wouldn't touch)-The ACs catch up to the Swan and company in CI, they surround them and it looks like they're doomed. When all of a sudden, 111+ Warriors swarm in from everywhere to battle the Turnbulls. Anyway, I thought of this because I was analyzing the Turnbulls scene for an answer to another member's question and I thought, "who could beat the ACs fullstrength? And I started playing with the numbers. OH! I almost forgot. This line of thinking, finally made it clear to me why the Orphans were a small time operation. I used to not get that because it seemed like there was a lot of them. But, 30 fullstrength, isn't so big.

hohohehe

I'd like to think some Riffs would take their hockey sticks and stop that one AC on top of the bus from looking so silly, with his legs all bouncing like a baby...

It's like this:

Once the word was sent out via the radio, every gang in the city was patrolling their turf. The Furies probably had multiple patrols of 9-10 guys running around their area, hoping to catch them.

The Turnbulls would obviously have atleast another bus than the one shown, if that was their trademark.

All that patrol stuff applies to the other gangs too.

The angling o the shots in the Riffs' hangout doesn't let you see their full strength, but for some reason I imagine it to be about 200-300.

Both your Furies and Riffs theories make sense, good point.

No way! 200-300? The end had all the Riffs on the beach. Maybe 125-130, but it was all of them. I know this because for all the loyalty other gangs had to Cyrus, Everyone in his own gang would want a piece of his assassins. They might in fact be the baddest gang in town, but, it wouldn't be the David and Goliath scenario, they would take some casualties as well.

I'm pretty sure the riffs left some members and affiliates back at their hideout/turf though...

I agree they would have kept some back and there are always more coming up through the ranks. Pluss the Riffs will have easily been trained better, you saw how they took care of Cleon.

There must of been some riffs left to watch there own turff. i think the riffs nay not be the stongest in #'s, but they could be the strongest in crime. Maybe they high jack trucks, or maybe they own many stores.
