Warchief vs. Warlord

There seems to be some confusion with the terms "Warlord and Warchief"
Warchief as Cleon, Fox, Cochise and Vermin say, is second in command. Warlord is the leader as Ajax mentions twice.(Once in the cemetary and once in the park before his arrest.)

I don't think there is any confusion really--it is the same postition, just depends on the slang term you want to use.
In the old days, warlord was used probably more often than warchief--but the terms are interchangable, as they mean the same thing within the gang hierarchy.

as stated in the PS2 Warriors game manual on page 17, it says Cleon is the Warlord and Swan is the Warchief, 2nd in command.

Thank you! How could they mean the same thing? Cleon says directly,"Warchief....Second in command"

I just figured, because on the Hi-hats page of the game site, it says "Snow's warchief, yo....." I figured that Warlord is the numero uno guy at all times. Warchief is whoever is leading the mission at the time, like, say Ajax and a couple others raided someone's turf, then Ajax would be Warchief cause he's be in charge of the war party.

But whatever. Can't wait till Friday when I'm not budy so I can get the game.......

They were calling Cleon Warchief,in the movie, simply out of respect---truth---to lead them like that and him answering the emmisary from Cyrus--Cleon is PRESIDENT-because the PRES has to be the toughest-and the warchief/warlord are simply a term that implies respect for his abilities. The Warlord is 2nd in command, and in charge of rumble stratagies.

I also always considered Warchief and Warlord interchangable. One has to keep in mind that Ajax does say, "I wanna be Warlord" to Swan, not Warchief, so that kind of shows that the two titles were considered interchangable in the film, and no one corrected Ajax ("Swan is Warchief, not Warlord").

Now sure Vermin says "hey big boy, Swan's Warchief" but Vermin was not correcting Ajax's terminology, he was clearly only saying Swan was in charge.

Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! Ajax says, "I want to be Warlord" because he considers Cleon out of the picture. He says,"I've got as much right to TAKE OVER as you" That means that Warlord is the leader. Cleon, himself, says, "Swan....WARCHIEF.....SECOND....IN.....COMMAND"

You are not realizing the obvious, and are simply looking for an argument----
IF you go watch the deleted scenes---AJAX calls Swan "Warlord" too so it means the same no matter WHO it is applied to. Only difference is--Cleon has the power to appoint who gets the title---everyone else just uses it to mean "the one in charge" and 'chief/lord' doesn't mean squat---it is the WAR that counts.
Which means that the terms mean the same thing, and the second in command only applies when the President(Cleon) isn't there.

I have been hearing the terms INTERCHANGED between members for over 30 years---I know what they mean in this context.

i agrre, this is how i understood it.
warlord - first in command
warchief - second in command
if the warlord bites it, the warchief gets promoted to warlord

BTW, this is a most ridiculous arguement. :p

Interchanged? Nobody says "Warlord" except Ajax. Nobody, EVER, calls Cleon Warchief. I am not one to argue. I just feel that I am right in this case. In all my other posts, I concede that I'm giving an opinion. But this is a matter of fact. Warchief is second in command. It is just that way. Let's get some official ruling, then I'll let it rest.
