Who set that fire? There are several theories. I believe that it was the Rogues. They always gave me the impression of a predator, stalking a wounded animal until it could move in for the kill. Also, when the scene cuts away from the fire, we instantly go to the Rogue's car pulling up with lots of flashing lights in the background. Of course, this is just a theory.

Must've been the Rogues. They out-chased the ac's and the Rogues had information, did they not?

I don't think it was the Rogues. The Rogues looked like they got their information from their youth worker, who Luther played.

If the AC's didn't set the fire, they must've notified someone, probably The Riffs.....and they must've gotten the word and sent it out and some other gang probably set it. Some gang who was in that area.

Interesting theories--except the Rogues were still looking/hearing about the Warriors over the phone, long after the train had already been stopped.
NO Way the Rogues could have gotten that far ahead--they only caught up at the very end. Besides like someone above posted, they weren't that smart.

Originally, I too wondered about the ACs, but in retrospect, I don't think any of the gangs had anything to do with the fire, I think it was mostly bad luck and coincidence--besides, for the movie to take off, they had to stop the subway somehow--so the Warriors had to run. Fires happen every day, and with the age of the subway system, I would say faulty wiring someplace had more to do with that fire than any people, known or unkown.

Everyone looks for different ideas about it---sort of like the boogeyman, to each his own. :)

I think this is just one of those things like "Who the hell was Luther talking to on the phone?", supposed to add a little mystery to the film.

Yeah I agree, I don't think there was ever really a gang that was meant to set the fire, it's one of those mysteries of life :D

Speaking of Luther on the phone, I think he was on the phone with the cops. His gun + badge looked like a police issue. He had an arrangement with them about breaking up the meeting and that's how all the Rogues got out. And finally, I respect the sentiment that this theory is proposterous.

I always felt it was purposely set. Gotta look at that scene again and think about who.

After listening to one of the special features on the DVD, the only reason they put a fire in was to get The Warriors into Orphan turf and I don't think it was meant to have been set by a gang. The gang would have been waiting for them for one thing!

Masai got word that the A.C.s screwed up. "We just heard from the Turnbulls. They blew it."

Thefore, the A.C.s probably told The Riffs that The Warriors jumped on the subway. So any gang in The Riffs' network could have set that fire.
