Another Blooper involving Cyrus
Is it just me or has anyone ever done the maths when Cyrus is telling everyone at the meeting how many gang members will be in the "Army"?
9 Members from a hundred gangs and over one hundred more adds to 1,800!
Anyone explain how he got to 20,000?
Was this deliberate or just bad maths?

Cyrus stated: "You are standing next to 9 delegates from over 100 gangs, and there are over 100 more." Thus there are only 9 representatives at the meeting from each group -which may actually be 30, 40, 100, etc. It just so happens that the Warriors only had a total of 9 members.
adios

"Who are the Warriors? There must be some word?"

That's fair enough but, that is taking into account that every gang has 100 gangs. Gangs like the Punks and Furies didn't seem to have that many members.
Maybe Cyrus should have said. "The future is ours if you can't count!".
I don't really care what the totals come to just wanted to see others point of view on what i think is the greatest film ever!

The Warriors were more than 9 people (of course)! We just see only 9 in the film, cause Cyrus had invited only 9 delegates from each gang.
Do U agree?

Fair enough.
I still think he should have said, ? You are from a hundred gangs with a hundred members and there?s over a hundred more, that?s over 20,000 hardcore members?
I know it takes nothing away from the film I just think it sounds a bit strange when you actually take his numbers as he states them.

I think the Warriors only had a total of nine members at least in the movie, I don't know about the book. If not, the rest of the gang would have met them at Coney Island upon their return. There was no one else but the six remaining members. There are large gangs and small gangs, Cyrus seemed to have understood all of this, which is why he asked for only nine -an equal amount- for each. Save for the fact that the Riffs appeared to be more than nine in number at the meeting. The gangs seemed to be fairly knowledgeable about certain things -like knowing which gang was and was not in the "network", the Orphans not being one of them.

The Warriors should have been more than 9, otherwise noone would have heard of 'em. A gang with 9 members is hardly a gang. But hey, this was a movie and all this is fictional...remember? Besides, who cares? We only know these 9 guys and these guys we love!

Actually, until the incident and the false accusations, the Warriors were not well known. The new Riff leader asks: "Who are the Warriors? There must be some word?" Yet no one in the entire Riff gang answers. It is only when they are accused that word gets around, even to the Lizzies who tell them: "Yeah, we know the Warriors, their a heavy outfit."
adios,
adios,

warrior numbers
In the deleted daytime scene were cleon is introducing everyone, he says the members of the warriors that are going to the conclave have been chosen from a street family of 120.

The film certainly doesn't explain everything. There are inconsistencies and other things which would have made it a more interesting film. One inconsistency is pointed out above regarding the Riffs and the Warriors noteriety. "Who are the Warriors?", yet Cyrus sent an emissary to Coney just to make sure they would be there. That makes no sense.
I do believe there were over 100 Warriors and the nine were the chosen delegates to the enclave. Yet, assuming each gang has over 100 members and every gang in the city is out looking for them then why are there only nine(?) Baseball Furies and nine Ithink) Punks? It does leave a lot to the imagination.

"When we get there that's when we've made it."

i think when the new leader of the riffs asked "who are the Warriors?", was being rhetorical. i mite be a newbe, but all this talk of the bloopers adds to the sheer essence of the film. remember it was made probably on a low budget in 1979, so there was bound to be mistakes and lack of clarity. personally the only thing that this film lacks is an extra 30mins. there it would have explained things better and a possibility of an extra fight scene.
"no, no, it wasnt us. it was them the Warriors."
