assuming luther is a guy who takes orders from a higher power,i,d like to hear anyones reasoning on why this leader of the rogues would send out luther and his affiliates to kill cyrus in the first place.obviously luther was psycho enough to pull the trigger and get the blood on his hands.
through most of the film luther is cocky and confident that the warriors would be found and brought to justice by the riffs for the crime they didnt commit.could the plan to kill cyrus have been planned well in advance of the meeting.

i always assumed whomever was giving luther his orders knew what cyrus had planned for the meeting -the whole unity of gangs thing- and didnt like it.

Man I just see Luther as a psycho without any thinking about the long-term results of his actions. I imagined Luther as the Rogues leader and he ruled by intimidation. I'd picture him shooting a rival Rogue in the back if he disagreed with him. The script portrayed him kinda like the dialogue "I just like doin stuff like that." The character was nutty enough to kill Cyrus just for the hell of it to stir things up.

I always thought of Luther as mroe of a war chief character and that the real war lord is the person he's talking to on the phone, who doesn't know of Luthers rogue actions (no pun intended).

Watch the movie again, you'll notice that Luther says to whoever is on the phone " This guy Cyrus had a accident " "Yeah these guys the warriors"
This whould mean that whoever he's speaking with had no idea it was him.
like prozium explained before.

if there was someone higher than luther in the rogues. they possibly could have thought they were sending Luther on a "suicide mission" of sorts. ya know "this man is crazy let have him assassinate Cyrus and in turn have the Riffs kill him. and kill 2 birds with 1 stone
