Ajax back down??

When Ajax says, "I only got one question.. who named you leader?" and so on. The point is, Swan says "Make your move.." only to have the rest of the Warriors tell Ajax that Swan is Warcheif. Knowing Ajax's attitude, plus he's more brawn than he is bright, why didn't he start swinging his fists anyway? He was going to, and knowing Ajax, his temper normally wouldn't let them stop him. Your thoughts?

I think he was testing the water!
Wants to see what would happen.

Well, Ajax does care about the other guys' opinions. They influenced him I believe. He would've fought Swan, if Swan hit him first. Also, Ajax is an emotional guy. At first, his adrenaline had to be coursing, after running from the meeting and hearing the prospect of fighting his way home. At two points after that, he shows his loyalty to both Cochise and Cowboy. Cowboy is obvious, and the Cochise scene was when backed him up about going up to the platform.

I think Ajax was suprised when Swan said "Make you're move"....Ajax usualy thinks all the other Warriors are afraid of him...as a matter of fact,,it's kind of true...only Cleon,Swan and Snow would probably have the guts to rumble with Ajax.

True, but with Ajax's ego,
I find that he wouldn't care if they did or didn't.

Exactly, he was testing the waters to see if the other Warriors were thinking like he was. They woulda kicked his ass if he'd have jumped Swan.

I'd think they would break up the fight not beat up Ajax.

i think it was becuase even ajex has his limits. He is my 2nd favorite character and he is more of an aimed loose canon, he isnt the leading type, thats what he does. To have a loos canon leading the gang would not have worked, he why dont you ask James Remar to see what he thinks? I'd bet he would agree

I think testing the waters is a good term---but I don't think he was worried about them all beating him up, or about if Swan would back down-that would have been impossible. But as acting leader, Swan couldn't swing first---he already had the position, so it was up to Ajax to make the challenge if he thought he could.
but I think the real reason he backed down was because when all the guys told him to lighten up, it meant that they were not willing to follow his lead--and he couldn't be leader if no one was going to listen to him.

i believe that if they fought ajax would say somthing swan would punch him ajax would block and uppercut swan and once swand on the ground the others would break it up before it got any heavier

Ajax isn't an idiot. He knows how it all is. He never was very smart, but he never was very stupid either. The subway was there, they needed to leave, he knew not to screw stuff up so early just yet, he probebly would've waited until they all got back and then made his move. But he's not a dumbass.

I think Ajax would of fought him but didnt want to take the risks of being kicked out of the gang orrrr he didnt expect Swan to say that and wasnt his intetion on fighting in the first place.

I don't think Swan expected Ajax to fight him
it whouldn't have been a good idea anyway as they needed to be united to make it back home as Cochise pointed out
