Furies Battle Ethics

Post by wolverine_95 »

From time to time I've seen coments about how The Furies don't move very quickly to swarm and attack Swan in the park. I was watching this scene the other day and started to wonder if The Furies had a specific ethic in how they carried out ther battles.

My theory is that they have a batting order of sorts. The highest ranking Fury on the scene gets first crack, if he gets racked the next guy down the totem pole take a shot, and so on and so on until a certain number of individuals have engaged in one on one scraps. When that certain number is reached the rest of the Furies swarm and attack as a unit.

Anybody else got any speculative theories about this (or think this is totally rediculous)?

Interesting theory on the batting order.  But I think that fight scene has more to do with the fact that it was rushed, Walter Hill didn't have time to do all the stuff he wanted.  I think there was a lot more footage that made the fight more interesting and realistic, but it was left on the cutting room floor.

Why in the hell did only 7 went on the chase? I am sure there had to be more. I also think is the white/green face fault for gettin' beat up, because he is just standing there watching the fight until he gets wacked!!!

When I was watching the movie yesterday, I started thinking about the Furies fight. If you look real closely, they dont just stand there and get battered. They do actually move and try to attack, not very fast or with great power, but they do try and attack. They just get taken down before the can hit the Warriors. For example:

1) When Snow and Swan enter the fight, Swan turns a guy round, and whacks him in the face before he can do anything.
2) Snow, when entering the fight, runs straight for a Fury, and as I said the Fury is not quite fast enough, so Snow uses the Furies own bat to strangle him
3) Ajax, after beating the yellow Fury, takes a bat across a guys face before he can do anything and hits the only Fury that doenst move. He also nails another Fury shortly after hitting one in the face.(At least I think it is Ajax, sorry if I'm wrong)
4) Swan runs round in a kind of circular motion and punches a Fury, who you can briefly see running at Swan , trying to attack.
5) Swan actually fights one on one with a Fury, kind of like a sword fight with bats, and then another scenario similar to that one, in which he punches the Fury then repeatedly hits him in the side.
And finally....
6) The Yellow Fury gets back up but is thrown over Ajax's shoulder, and I presume he is trying to get Ajax again.

I might be wrong but I just think the Furies arent really good fighters, but I think they DID go for it against the Warriors, maybe not to their full capability, we'll never know that, but I think they did try to fight and never stood still. They were jsut too slow.
