Just saw this and it made me wonder.
In the fight scene and throughout the movie Luther wears a badge over his heart like a cop would. However, in the fight scene the bottom part of the badge seems to be dented by a bullet. Could Luther have gotten this token as a way to show that he snuffed a cop? Luther is just crazy enough to do it.

Luther kills a policeman during the videogame. He's crazy a lot in the game too!!

I may be mistaken but i always thought it looked like a badge from the ''wild west'' just like a kind of pin or something. Maybe not though

The badge.  Yes I've pondered that thing for years.  My "Luther with the cops theory" of 05 used the badge heavily.  But I think it's just a toy.

You got to remember one of the great things about this movie is the inferences that can be made. From the costume designers on up to the Director it shows that the main characters in the movie regardless of gang were given some degree of backstory. It's never mentioned, only subtly played off by the actors and such. The little looks given by Swan toward Mercy during the course of the movie. THe keeping her from fixing her hair for the prom couples. The subtle look between Swan and ajax after the Furies fight that suggests a mutual respect that has formed. Snow only moving his eyes to look at the punks. Small things that could hav emany meanings. No Luther was never shown killing a cop. But that badge, and his attitude are extremely suggestice.
Luther has a screw loose, he killed a gang leader for no reason. He didn;t seem to care that cops would be at the 96th St. station. (Maybe because he felt invulnerable after killing one.) He doesn't seem the type to wear a toy badge. But he does seem the type to wear a dead cops badge as a trophy to show his handy work.

In the final fight with the Rogues you can get a decent look at the badge. The bottom point of the badge looks to have been dented by a bullet. IT has the appearance of the shape.

SHm thaks for the Karma man. ANd yes though Luther kills a cop in the game, that's not what i was basing my theory on. The game is the game. The movie is the movie.

Ah, thanks SHM, that made my not so good thrusday night much better. Gah sometimes work and school are just too much.

If you look at the badge, really look at it. It's alot more deatiled than a toy badge would be. The think looks like metal, not tin metal. I mean real metal. the dent in the bottom edge is another thing that makes me think it's not a toy badge.

Does it look like a badge worn by real cops in the real world, no. It's a movie. look at super troopers both badges worn by the state and the local cops were badges that looked fake. Movie folks especially with a low budget like the Warriors are going to skimp on things like badges that are really worn by real cops. They more than likely bought the cheapest badge sold or that was already available at paramount at the time. They figured there wouldn't be people focusing on so small a detail. (They were wrong  )

What I'm saying is it lends one to believe Luther killed a cop, his personality isn't one like Sully of the Orphans. Luther doens't seem the type to brag about something he didn't actually do. Nor, does he seem the type to wear a children's badge. I could be wrong. I could be reading more into it. But I don't think so.

I noticed that badge, but never stopped to think about it.
it is an old west badge, no doubt about it, looks like a novalty one, cos when I zoomed in on it, it looked like it had a cresent moon on it

Ive always thought that it was a sheriff badge that he wore for fun lookin.

On topic: Like most, I always thought it was just some toy/replica, not a real police badge. Luther is probbly crazy enough to kill a cop and take his badge, I just don't think he's gotten around to it yet :p
