A gang called the Homicides who "Owned" Coney Island in their own words.
The way i found this out is by looking in GI and finding a thing on the owner of Coney Island was taken hostage and told to get rid of his security he sent to coney to get rid of Pervert Problems under the pier where pervs went to look up womans skirts.
Now after this I was skeptical so I did a search on the gang and pulled up they were real.
So I guess they were the ones who the director paid to paint over their turf and star in the movie.

They never appeared in the movie. No gangs got paid but, several gang members appeared at the big meeting.
In a book called Coney Island Lost and Found the Homicides are mentioned. Buy it it's a great book!

Interesting, really interesting. Why would the perverts go under the boardwalk to see under the skirts of women? I mean, all you have to do is just go to the beach and see women in their bikinis or swim gear. Hey, I am not a pervert, I am just suggesting what I would do with my sun shades.

It's only got a couple of small mentions on The Warriors and one picture with Stauch's Bathhouse that had the Warriors Tag on. But the pictures of the old rides and history of Coney is well worth a read.

I'll give it a go along with the Wonderwheel..
It would be cool to meet up with loads of fellow Warriors but i'm going to be so pushed for time and the girlfriend wouldn't be as happy to.

Which is fair enough i guess it's her holiday aswell and she is "letting" me visit the filming scenes etc.
I'm coming over in December and it would be cool if all the N'Y members could meet up and do the Warriors tour!

I'll be more than glad to serve as a guide to whoever wants to know the sites. I live a few blocks from 96th Street. So, "send the word."

Riverside Park is just a great place man. From the Fire Department Monument, to the park where poor Cyrus proposed to run the whole City. Also, there are great sports taking place a few blocks where the Furies chase took place along with the beating they received (stupiod clowns).
But I guess nothing beats Great Coney. You're lucky to live there dude. unfortunately it seems as if it is fading away. Time, tiime will get to us all my friend.

Were the Homicides the gang that was paid to provide security just to keep them happy and to not have any problems from them?

No, The Mongrels.
"The film trucks were "protected" by a real gang called The Mongrels for $500 a day." from
http://warriorsmovie.co.uk/movie-facts.html
Even if I heard somewhere it isn't just true. Anyway, today that's still "The Official Info".

well actually they did pay some gangs i herd they paid a gang to protect the film truck so that it wouldnt be vandelized or stole.
and rembrandt sprayed over a gangs mark in the punks bathroom so then the gang got offended so then they comfronted the cast and they got paid to be in the movie.
