Probably this topic has already been covered, but I would like to review it one more time. What exactly is it about The Warriors that you like so much and why?
In my personal case, The Warriors show and have something to offer that we, as humans beings, look for throughout our life times. Let me elaborate. Besides anything else, there is loyalty among all the members. I could exclude Ajax, but we know that what this Warrior needs is some logical explaining and then he reasons, maybe except when it comes to a having ?little action along the way.? But it is amazing how they support each other in every confrontation they face. Ajax was willing to show that loyalty when it comes to crack the heads of those friggin ?clowns.? In other words, I believe there is a mutual respect among all of them, and in this regard they all are willing to listen to each other. When loyalty is questioned, then trouble arises. They must listen to each other, no matter how insignificant the member is. An example of this is Rembrandt. He seems to be the mascot of the group and does not do much fighting, but still when it comes to measure things up, he has a good eye for danger. An example of this is the situation with The Lizzies. If Cochise and Vermin would had been more opened to his suggestions, they would had avoided the embarrassed episode. No matter how low Rembrandt?s status is as an artist, he is a valued member. Remember that part when Swan tells Rembrandt, ?You stay close by, alright?? The point that I am trying to make is that in The Warriors, every member is as important as any other, even those in control. This loyalty allows for great comradeship. In the plot we know there are no bonds of family ties, even romance. While in the book these topics do arise with a different taste, in The Warriors everything is questioned. This is exactly what happens in that conversation between Mercy and Swan in the subway. Different institutions and survival come into question. The audience knows that The Warriors are a different case and Mercy perceives this right away and that?s why she decides to follow on their steps. She ?doesn?t know where she?s been, but she knows she likes it.?
Loyalty, that what attracts me to this great movie. What about you guys?

All the warriors have there own special quality, and of course there all good fighters, well cept for Rembrandt, haha. They dont really get along all the time, but when they do something right, they always unite back together. Also there loyalty to each other, is strong, cowboy goes back to watch ajax ass, but is too late. The only loyalty split i see in the gang, is between Ajax, and swan. I think if they got better, united they would be unstoppable. Ajax was my favorite character and i was pissed when he fell for such a dumbass trick. I really wish swan had stopped him, that is his duty to watch out for his fellow gang members, seeing as he is the "Warchief", but the warriors are so popular beacuse they are so different and when u watch the movie, its fun to see how all the gang members personalitys will unfold. The Warriors are definelty my favorite gang other than the baseball furies of course.

i disagree on how you guys are viewing ajax. he wasn't leader material but once that beef was settled with him and swan he fell in line. also in the beginning he was told to soldier and keep his mouth shut and he did just that. there is always a hot head in the crew but that isn't a question of his loyalty. also him wanting to be warchief wasn't him being unloyal more so than it was his passion for the gang. he wanted to be the man and the right cats put him in his place. ajax never once would have left and when he did he just thought he was taking a sex break. he is a loyal soldier.

Yeah, me too. Some times I wonder how would the movie had been if Ajax had made it to the end.

He never said no to Snowball's and Cowboy's request to go look after him. Besides, he sustains your point when he adds, "I go look for the others."

So, I figure your favorite thing about The Warriors is their individual personalities.
Cool.

I never put into question his loyalty. I do agree with your point of view about him being a hot head and not having leader skills. I am not too sure about Ajax keeping his mouth shut though. Somehow every time I watch that particular scene where Snowball reminds him, "Come on man, there's plenty of women back home" simply show a whole lot of wisdom there. Wisdom which the imprudent of Ajax lacks. I wonder how Ajax thought he could had made it all by himself back to Coney. Don't you agree with Swans remark "He was never really smart"?.
The point is, what exactly attracts you to The Warriors?

i like the fact that they were so organized. the way swan makes a couple head movements and the warriors go into the restroom ready to brawl with the punks.also on the beach when they make there own weapns and got a plan and such. the warriors are truly the best like swan says.

I'm surprised at how much I've enjoyed this movie over the years. Considering it's about gangs and my brother was actually killed in a gang......I still wasn't turned off of this particular gang film. One of the things I liked was.....it seems the gangs in this movie and even in real life during this time period (70's, even though it was the late 70's), were more into protecting their neighborhoods and only fought as a last resort.......and not with guns, or with the intent to kill, but to run off the intruder or enemy. Unlike today, where some gang films and real life gangs have taken an awful turn for the worst. I also liked how the director allowed the Warrior characters to show real life feelings/fears we could all relate to. Boys will be boys no matter what.....they could not resist the girls (Lizzies) even while on the run..lol. Also, through all their toughness, THEY WANTED TO GET HOME where they felt a sense of safety. They ran from gangs, they expressed care for each other, Swan showed a sensitive side (giving Mercy the flower). I liked the different personalities of each Warrior...we all know somebody like each of those guys, and finally, I liked the colorful expressions from each gang with their different styles of appearance. It is a one-of-a-kind film. I REALLY hope they don't mess up the remake.
