Once again I tried to search this topic...could?nt find anything. If this thread exicist my fault....

But just imagine the easy job for the police to identify certain gangs in the Move (I know that it?s stupid but just play with the thought) like the Hihats, Baseball Furies, Electric Eliminators for example. These gangs in particular wears a very easy "uniform" to recognize :) Or do you think that there are many Baseballbat armed, painted in the face gangs that roams in the Riversiede Park....?

Yeah I can see that some gangs would stick out real bad. But there has to be certain situations where it is honorable to remove the colors like delivering "packages" for instance? If a gang like the Furies was just walking around the police cannot arrrest them on sight unless they were actually caught doing something illegal. I would love some thoughts on this from someone who has more knowledge than me on this topic.

you're right, the police can't arrest them unless they are breaking the law, or breaking gang curfew.

They ran because they were all wearing their colors and the cops had just busted up the biggest gang conclave ever and were looking to nab any gang member they could.  While technically they weren't breaking a law, I think the cops were in an "arrest first, ask questions later" mode.

It?s true that you have to something criminal to be arrested. But is there honestly anyone who really belives that the Furies would?ve been legal? I mean even if they did?nt mug, beat up anyone etc. up at Riverside, they would (my opinion) definatly scared many people and the cops would have been noticed. Don?t you think?

i never thought of this and your probably right the furies would of looked a bit lame if they had just walked around all the time with paint on during the day they probably just wore there jerseys and hats and jeans. and the electric eliminators maybe they just took there jackets off and and just wore yellow t shirts. and the moonrunners would of took off there silver jackets and just wore purple shirts so they could all remain hidden. i dunno mayeb the theory is wrong but it does sound like a pretty smart idea.

A really really good point. Evene if the truce was on at the big meeting, I think we can assume that every gang that came there wanted to show their best/strongest side and this without flexing any physical flexing.

New York gangs.........the cops were not gonna take any chances, regardless if they were just sitting in the subway or gathered around, the cops saw them as a menace! Even the furies with all that paint would look scary to me in the middle of the night!

I totaly buy into the "war-paint" theory. Also, I think the world the story takes place in is one where cops are stretched too thin/mostly dirty/too apathetic to maintian law and order and as a result you have brazenly visible street gangs.
