If you were Walter Hill back in 1979, would you include the deleted opening daytime scenes or not?
If I were the director, I wouldn't. Just my opinion, but I think the movie just flows better when it starts from night and we learn the warriors personalities as we go along. What do you think?

No I wouldn't I totally agree with what Walter Hill thought. He had the idea that a daytime scene was reserved for when they get home from The Bronx a hell night were if you put a daytime scene with that music in it it would take away the horror and intensity of the movie.

No, because things happen for a reason. For instance, the daylight scene ruins the whole depiction of a night of hell, and a relief as the sun comes up. Or the interaction between Swan and Ajax, is bessed seen in the cemetary argument, to get to know each character better. Things have a way of evolving on there own, when decisions are thought out for a reason.

Okay, but what if they re-filmed that scene at night? Do you think that would have worked insted? They did that, then they got on the train with the montage and we just saw them on the train and other gangs travelling to the meeting, think it would work?
Whatever, I'm just throwing ideas around here, after my first experience as a director I'm getting into the groove. Plus, it's fun to have people listen to me for a change.

Ye Scurvy Dog, I think the same. I mean, including daytime scenes via flashback, would have been cool!
I'd include the scenes after Cleon's death, as last tribute to him! Anyway I think first scene is perfect with the wheel and the arriving train in the dark!
