Mercy...what now?

If Mercy had not met with Swan again in the subway, do you think she would of gone back with the Orphans, go with the next gang that went by there, stay alone, or stay with the Furies?  Since she was in their territory.

Well, very interesting point!!!
Your answers too, but I just think she would have gone to Coney alone, 4 enjoining The warriors... ye... Swan!!!
If didn't she know where The Warriors were from? She was clever, some question without risking... and... "here I am Swan"!!! Even if, IMO, she knew where they were from! She knew many gangs' turfs!
I mean she definitely didn't want to come back that bunch of wimps turf-tremont... she had just seen what The Warriors could do... well other gangs were strong too, but meeting The Warriors she had already decided... I think!!! 8)

This is a good question.  Its hard to say, because between what the warriors encountered, and Mercy encountering the warriors, they were basically supposed to learn from one another.  Things happen for a reason, and sometimes we are meant to cross paths with certain "special" individuals in order to learn a life lesson.  I truly believe that Swan and Mercy met at an inevitable fate.  Swan learned to let people into his heart, and Mercy realized she was more important to society than she originally thought.  So yes, my guess is that if she did not see Swan again, she would be in a world of misery.  God knows what would happen to her.  In one month she would be raped and found dead in an alley somewhere.  The same goes for Swan, maybe he would never "take off", and not find the bliss he intended to search for within himself.  So yeah, this connection was meant to happen.

I'm going to think about it from a different prespective..
Image
If she is a product of her enviornment, there are so many directions that she could have gone..
And with The people around her, feeding their Idealist thoughts to her..
The Drifting from Gang To Gang comment is intresting because she said to Swan in The Movie
Image
Mercy: Belly Hanging down,5 Kids,Cockroches in the cupboard,I'll tell you what I want,
I want something now,
This is the life I have left..You Know what I mean?..
You get it Warrior Huh??
Image
But Personally,I am very Optimistic..
I would think, that the life she is leading is
not rewarding enough for her,and as you get older,
you begin to appreciate the simplicity that Life offers you,
and you want to make a change, and not waste her life,
and make a difference,
and she decided to Move away from such a enviornment.
And probably go to College, and educate Young people away from such places and things..
Image
Because when you are Young, you trying to fit in,and hang out with the In-crowd,and belong..
And after a while, even that begins to get boring, and you look for ways to challenge yourself
and seeing how adept and capeable you are and your skills..
And That alone is the first step, into a world that is much more better
Than the Life she has left,You Get it Warrior Huh?? Get it?? <---Mercy's Quote from the movie.

Like I always said, she saw a future with Swan, specially after the "We fought all night for this" comment.  Right there and then she saw it was just a matter of time before he would eventually leave the gang life behind, and she saw this as an oppourtinity.

Indeed, it just seems so: their talks, their looks (final scene), the comment you already posted Lion, and another one "I keep hoping I'll run into something better" (subway tunnel)... yeah, both Swan and Mercy wanted a new life chance!!! 8)

I think that she would have tried to find out where Swan was going or at least find another Warrior. She saw him as, first of all, an oppertunity to get out of the Orphan's turf but later an oppertunity to be with someone who would actually understands where shes coming from because even thought she's not a gang member, she is a product of the streets

I totally agree with you The Swan. I think she would have went to Coney looking for Swan. She knew where they were trying to get to.

Yeah, glad you agree!!!
Swan and Mercy were, at the same time, the most mystical and the most concrete of all!!!
Plus, they immediately liked each other!!! Predestined!!! 8)
