Re: releases 08-09
I would almost bet it will be Swan or Ajax. I can't see them putting out another character before a member of The Warriors. I think you are right on the nose about right around X-Mas too.
They are all so cool though, that the order doesn't really matter to me much. Of course that is a little easy for me to say, because I got my Orphans Leader already.

I don't think these are selling as good as the originals. I haven't heard any hype.

Re: releases 08-09
Maybe its because of mezco's reluctance so far, to put these items in a store where they are more accessable. Roughly half of the registed forum members are not of an age where they are old enough to own a credit card. If they only purchased one figure each, thats a thousand potentual sales that Mezco have missed out of. As much as I would like these figures in my collection, if there not gonna be in stores, then I wont be getting them. Mezco made a mess of the last series. Sounds like someone in their marketing department needs to be shown the door.Lion wrote: I don't think these are selling as good as the originals. I haven't heard any hype.

Re: releases 08-09
You are blaming Mezco for things that are not their fault. Do you really think Mezco wouldn't like to see these in every retail shop possible? Unfortunately, retailers are to blame for the lack of product on shelves. They make the decisions on what they carry. Not Mezco, not the public. The lack of retail support kills more toy lines than you can imagine.
Also, these are not really meant for kids, these are adult collectibles. It even states this on the packaging. A kid shouldn't be ordering over the Internet anyway, if they are that young, they should have their parents placing their orders. A TON of people order over the Internet. I practically have to, because all my stores suck in the area. Hard for me to even find mass retail collectibles.
Simple fact, your local Wal-Mart is NEVER going to carry action figures based on gang members, and that has nothing to do with Mezco's marketing.
As for hype, I am not sure what anyone is looking for. Many toy lines come out a year with little hype, and sell just fine. Maybe excitement on this board is low, but this board is pretty slow all around these days.
As for the line selling well, actually the Orphan Leader seems to be selling pretty good, but you really can't judge how well the line will sell on him. Lets face it, some of us really love the character, but in the grand scheme of things he is just a secondary character with less than 15 minutes of screen time. If he sells decent, a character like Ajax will sell even more.
I really don't see why any of you would rather slam this line and Mezco rather than support them, that makes zero sense to me, and certainly doesn't help getting them in more stores. You would think you would all be happy about any product, considering there is barely any out there, and that the movie is almost 30 years old. In the end, if you aren't purchasing the figures, you are hurting the chances of them selling period, in brick and mortar store fronts or anywhere else and really have no right to complain. You also must not want them very bad anyway.

Re: releases 08-09
well said!!!!! I guess its like dont bite the hand that feeds you, and just be happy that they are making some warriors figures at all. I was happy with cornerstorecomics and would be happy to order from them again, I have phoned around stores in Australia and even though they say they have the new series on order, they still dont have them yet. so it will be interesting to see if and when they will get them. plus how much they will cost in store. we should be thanking Rockstar because it seems since the game has been out so much more warriors merchandise is now available, from figures to shirts to just about anything you can think of.

Re: releases 08-09
I can only speak for how sales were handled in my own country. Specialist stores such as comicbook and movie memrobilia shops orded small batches of series one to test the water. What we call a slow burner, sales started to pick up with the release of the rockstar game then sold out quickly. Retailers were then unable to get re-stocks after weeks of trying and then told the company (mezco) have completly sold out. Even though the line wasnt as fast a seller as mezco would have hoped, they were still unable to fulfill retail outlets (including the larger chain stores) orders.
Basic rule of supply and demand not fully followed.
TCM, I hear what your saying about this line being marketed towards the adult demographic. The same can be said for various horror movie franchise figures (movie maniacs etc). Ive worked for a few years in a specialsit store. We get a decent ammount of adult customers buying these items, but they are out numbered by the lower teen demographic (with a reluctant accompaning adult lol). We have our regular customers who are in the know and keep up with the toyfair type mags, but the larger majority of sales is through passing trade thats had their eye caught by window displays and until that point in time, were unaware that the product existed.
Time will tell if mezco are making the right decision or not.
Do I want these figures? Yes; but unless I can pester someone enough for them to use their credit card on my behalf (I have valid reasons not to own one myself) then i'm unable to purchase them.
I realise this is the age of online shopping and thats the direction everything is going, but i'm of the old skool mind set where I work and save for the things I want so I dont have to have anything on credit. I still prefer to hand cash over the counter to a clerk in exchange for the item I want, and go home happy.
I know exactly what you mean by retailers prematurly killing toy lines. If one of our suppliers didn't get enough interest of a certain item from the majority, the minority wouldnt get their orders fulfilled.

True, but that is mostly the retailer's faults for ordering low in the first place. A smaller toy company can't make the number of Warriors figures as a property like say Star Wars, or Spider-Man, which have much, much bigger fan base than The Warriors. They can't afford the loss if a ton don't sell like maybe Hasbro or Mattel could. They will only make about the number that retailers are ordering, especially with smaller properties. I am sure this unfortunately affects the foreign market even more.

I don't know about this, at least in America, and I would think it isn't that much different in the UK, but these days, most collectors get their information on the Internet at the many toy news websites, Not window browsing, or even magazines, and certainly not on television where action figure ads are virtually non-existent.
Time will tell if mezco are making the right decision or not.

I don't blame you about credit cards, but there are other ways. I myself use a debit card from my bank, or my paypal debit card, both of which can be used anywhere credit cards can. Also, some stores will take money orders, and maybe even checks.

Yeah, it is a real bummer. In a perfect world, we would all be able to get what we want, where we want.
