Mezco 5 Points Action Figure line THE WARRIORS

Post by LIER ONE »

MEZCO is totally stepping into their renewed license for THE WARRIORS. Today the released their 5 Point Action Figure line with our film being one of the runs. They look like the Re Action figures that are made. Looks like we are getting the usual characters: CLEON, SWAN, AJAX and RED FURIES. I hope they can at least expand this line to include secondary characters. I also would love for them to be inexpensive so you can build gangs or the very least the delegates from each gang.

These retro figures are cheap to mass produce. There's some obscure niche lines out there as well, so I'm hopeful that these get at least a series 2. The bodies look near identical, so should be no problem for customising if needed. I'm looking forward to these more than I am the delux 1:12 line. These are how I imagine a toy line would have looked if released to coincide with the movie back in 79. Fingers crossed that Mezco's tendency for being greedy, doesn't over-price this range. I want to see these in stores, not a year long pre-order.

Good value if you're stateside. Double the cost if you have to ship it overseas; and thats before the potential sting from customs.

Yes, this new box set is for the 70s style retro figures.

I was hoping they would sell them individually and card backed, for the full retro feel, but alas, they've gone this route again.

I too was hoping for carded back figures, in the same way SUPER 7 does their figures. I feel like these are MEZCO’s answer to SUPER 7 (which do very well in market). I actually thought that SUPER 7 would do a WARRIORS line until I saw MEZCO was getting in to the 3.75 size figures. SUPER 7 does playsets ($75 per set which is very steep) but the do playsets and vehicles. How awesome would a conclave or coney boardwalk playset would be or a TURNBULL AC bus or ROGUE hearse be?
And the set is probably going to have the same ORANGE/RED/BLACK WARRIORS walking through Coney package artwork. There are so many different images that can be used to make a popping packaging. Every brand uses the exact same image and color way. It’s almost like Paramount gives a directive to licensees to only use that image. I would take packaging with just the movie poster graphic. It would be something different.

I like the custom playset that Hammer of the Gods (forum member Uriah) made out of an old Sesame Street toy. So far, i prefer his custom figures over these official ones. The stirrups on the Furies are too mis-sized, it spoils them.
Being that we are their target customers, you would have thought someone from Mezco's development team would have approached this site or one of the larger social media groups to get feedback on their designs, choice of characters and any errors before they go live on the market.
