Series 1 v Series 2

Post by Riff »

Am I the only person who thinks the series 1 figures look better than the new series 2 figures?

I keep reading that the series 2 figures are a big improvement on the 1st series, but having looked at pictures on line they don't look as good to me. To be fair I haven't seen a series 2 figure in the flesh but I loved the look of the series 1 figures and looking at Ajax and Swan they don't look as good to me.

Also why bring out Swan and Ajax again, to be fair I am happy about Ajax becuase I missed him first time round, but what about some new Warriors?

Another thing why bring them out in 9" rather than 10" like series 1, surely this means you can't mix the two if you wan't to display them?

Not complaining, just curious to some of the decisions that have been made by Mezco?

I have the orphan leader next to my other figures, and they can be displayed nicely together. but I'll have to wait until I see the next 4 figures before I judge what I like better. at the moment its the first series I like better. But I'll see if that change's.

Yeah I'm gonna keep an open mind about it and wait and see what they are like when I hopefully get them.

It will be interesting to see how the Warriors figures compare to the old Warrriors, will they be noticeably smaller?

The 2009 line is far superior in my opinion. But it is all just a matter of that...opinion. They are completely different styles.

Well I got my first Series 2 figure last night, it was the Ajax figure.

Yeah it's a cool figure, but when put up against the series 1 figures I think they look alot better.

I think the skin tone looks too pink and fake looking, just looks very plastic, whereas the series 1 figures seemed a better colour and more natural.

Plus the head seems a lot smaller compared to the series 1 figures so it does look different.

Am waiting to get the other series 2 figures so will see what they are like when they arrive.

i think the series 1 figures are much better than the new ones. they look more like a comic book stlye, which i think fits in well with the movie. both great sets of figures but i love the first series with a passion lol

I like the new ones better. The 1st series was a much more "stylized" representation of the characters. They were bowlegged and had dumb expressions on their faces. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE series 1 and have all except the 2 FURIES exclusives, but I think that series 2 is a better representation of the film.

It's interesting to read others opinions on the differences.

I like the stylized cartoon style look of the first season, I much prefer them, but like I say I gotta see what I think of the other series 2 figures yet.

I think we can safely say that we all like both series, it's just what do we prefer.

Don't you think it's strange that they made another Swan, I know he is like the head figure of the film in many way's but it would have been nice to have a different Warrior.

I can understand them doing another Ajax becuase the first was limited, but another Swan don't make sense to me.

I want Snowball to be the next Warrior, complete with boombox.

Yeah and also a rembrandt would be good coz like hes now deceased so yeah..
Also i think its good in the second series how you can get the orphans leader and cyrus along with furies, but becuase they have all these gangs in like the 50th aniversary or something, when they will probally make more figures, will there be like hi-hats figures? or lizzies or something??

50th anniversary is 20 years from now  MEZCO might not even be in business then. Lets hope for the 30th anniversary (NOW) they make other gang members and finish our WARRIORS. With MEZCO, you never know. They are famous for stopping without a complete set (WARRIORS Series 1, HEROES etc)

Yeah, but as frustrating as that is, it isn't really Mezco's fault. They don't want these lines to fail even more so than we do. They can't just keep releasing figures if they aren't selling. Also, as far as the Warriors, I know for a fact that the guys at Mezco are big fans of the film themselves. Just the fact that they decided to try again with a new line of Warriors figures 4 years later shows their dedication to the property. Most companies would just let the license laps and say to hell with it. Happens all the time.

You know what I really want to see from Mezco right now? An Eric Powell Baseball Fury figure, based on the image he did for the comic. Mezco would do an amazing job on that.
