what if the warriors used firearms?

Post by snake5422000 »

I mean, in a more realistic atmosphere, I'd be surprised not to see more guns. And I think it might add more casual interest with today's audience, as gangster video games and movies seem to appeal to a lot of young fantasies now days.... And of coarse guns are always a big part in those games/movies...
I'm not sure what the Warriors 2008 movie will be like, I didn't hear anything about it until I came to this forum. But, I think they should at least use the same cast (give or take a few extras), same time period, same setting, even if they do use a different storyline. Does anyone think putting guns in it would be a good idea?

I'm going to disagree with you on that idea, I think it would be terrible having the Warriors equipped with guns and that would make their journey too easy. You mentioned about keeping the same time period and same setting and that wouldn't work at all with the gangs having guns, because in the 1970s guns were hard to come by and youth gangs wouldn't be armed with them like they are today. The movie also wouldn't have the same effect as the original either, because the Warriors were basically an average gang that could bop well and thats how gangs also got their rep in that time period. Anyone could hide behind the power of a gun, heck look at Luther, but it took skill to be a top bopper.

i agree totally with you, guns r silly for that type of movie.

its a gang movie not a gun fight movie or action, just a struggle to get from one place to home

and it needed to be a struggle hence no guns.

in the 70's guns were hard to get we all know that and because the film is based tht time period we know it wud have the effect of the time period

lol @ my good friend theswan. remember theswan, tell a mod and he can get his account deleted for doing that.

fire arms is not a good idea as ive said but luthor having a firearm shows hes the bad guy, but as they were rare in the 70's shows how much of an evil geniuos he is, maybe not genious but you know what i mean though.

It wasn't supposed to be in a realistic gang atmosphere. If you watch the director's cut, walter hill talks about Paramount pushing him into making the film like it was in a different universe cause thats the only way that it would all make sense. I mean look at the baseball furies.

Guns would have made the movie too boring as well, they'd just shoot everything in their way to get home

Maybe you can do some research on that while you're banned for posting outside the proving grounds. Your first ten posts are supposed to be in there.

I dont think they should, i mean one of the main things are "9 guys, NO WEAPONS" it would be stupid if every gang was packing, maybe a couple of gangs packing a colt or 2, but i dont think they should use many guns, it wont feel like The Warriors if they use guns, but then again, Tony Scott said the gangs are going to be like Bloods, Crips, 18th street gang (or w.e there called) and all of them use guns, so I dunno, I hope they dont over use the guns in the remake though.

Reggie, you're a funny man. The post right above yours was berating someone for posting outside the proving grounds with under ten posts. So what do you do? Post outside the proving grounds.

If the "featured" gang is having to use their skills to dodge bullets, use what they can to ricochet them, or possibly even sabotage a rival's pieces, that's one thing, but other than that, I'm another who disagrees with the use of guns in a gang movie.  They're a crutch.  They're for those who can't scrap or are wussies.

The Warriors using firearms?   NOT!!!  Won't EVEN go there.

Oh....  GramercyRiff99.....  about new bloods stepping outside the proving grounds.  Is there a way you could screen out unauthorized posts?

If they do you firearms then whats the whole point in watching it? its no good.
Its suppose to be be a type of movies where they barely use guns.
Something like..."Ooooooh Luther brought a gun to the fight! Im telling!!!!!"

Various things have been proposed to keep newbies where they belong, but all of the ideas are either impractical or technically impossible, as far as I know. Right now we mods just stick to a "ban them if we see it" mentality.

Believe me, we usually see it.

It would be terrible having The Warriors equipped with guns beacuse it's more realistic fight with fists, sticks, bats etc. Well, the question is: what if the warriors used firearms? That would be bad idea.

if they use firearms it wont be the same as the original like instead of having intense brawl you will have a guy walking up to a guy and shooting him and now thats boring
