just read with dismay af yet another remake, this time the john carpenter horror classic THE FOG,we have a saying in england "IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT!"
i just think there are too many remakes taking place,if you re do the original ie the longest yard then you are onto an hiding to nothing cos you know you'll not beat it,and if you just copy the title ie the italian job you're just cashing in.....they should try remaking some poor films and box office flops, not great movies like the fog the longest yard and the warriors

Yup, yup.
Howdy Ajax. I totally agree with you. "The Warriors" taking place in Los Angeles? These remakes are getting out of hand. I mean a remake of "The Fog." Come on. A classic movie like that doesn't to be remaid. And ontop of that it's rated PG-13. Why doesn't Hollywood just go ahead and make "Herbie The Love Bug" rated R? Some of these filmmakers need to keep thier lameass ideas in thier minds and off the big screne. Happy trails.

ALL REMAKES
While I agree with you in general, sometimes you need to actually see the movie before forming an opinion
I saw the Fog the other day, and I feel it was truely a great remake. All the names/characters from the original are in, so its not like your watching and saying who are these people?.
The plot is more or less the same, the only thing I didn't like was the ending "reincarnation" twist, but otherwise was good
Even memorable lines like" There's something in the fog" by the dj over the air made it in.
The new cg effects also are pretty cool, and don't overwhelm the movie.

as far as remakes, its hard to be original in hollywood these days. even if they come up with an original story of some sort, someone will find a way to link it to some movie from the past.
they recently came out with that movie "the island" with ewan mcgregor and scarlett johanson(total hottie). when i first saw the trailers, i was like, "hey something new" but after seeing it, it was the updated version of logan's run(actually a pretty good flick for its time).
look at "the good, the bad and the ugly", that was actually taken from a japanese samurai movie, same with "the magnificent seven". both great films but they're both still remakes...in a sense.
everythings been done to death, now all they can do is try to remake a old movie better.

Road House
Yup, that same Road House. I have it on dvd and I still watch it when it comes on tv too. You are right though Hater, the movie industry is runnig out of ideas.
