Has the game thrown a spanner in the works for this film?

Ok so I was out drinking Friday night and I get talking all things Warriors with the only one of my friends who has seen the film and I stumble upon the idea that the game might have really thrown a spanner in the works of this remake. All the changes being made from the original film were in order update the story for a modern audience, etc, but as the game has become very popular with the same people this remake is targeting and people who have never seen the film are falling in love with the characters and their world I think its extreamly likely that there will be an even wider "what the hell? this isn't the Warriors" attitude once the trailers start to pop up.

What i'm trying to say is do you think that the game has ruined this remakes chances of being accepted?

I wouldn't say that it's ruined the chances but I'd definately say that it's going to anger a lot of people (including myself).
