the origional movie used actual gangs for the conclave, and a few of their trailors were "protected" for a small fee. so i think it is pretty risky.

the only real gang guy was the guy who was gonna play cyrus but he never turned up its all on the disc

Im btting they are going to put in a gang to do with religion, for some reason in certain gang games i own that have bloods and crips for some reason have at least one religious gang holding someone hostinge in a church.

Well being that Tony Scott's gangs will be real, there will be no reason to create names.  The challenging part is since they are real gangs, is to get them to have peace in order to do this, which Tony Scott says their willing to do.

Tony Scott's in way over his head.does he really think he can do what Walter Hill did and make a Cyrus-kind of character which will unite all the gangs?Seriously,the conclave was unique,and trying to get an unarmed night of general truce to go off without a hitch with all real,warring gangs is impossible.I guarrantee you someone's gonna start a fight 10 minutes into the filming of the conclave.

You think he'll use them?Walter Hill was able to get hundreds of gangs(real or made-up)with reasonable numbers,but Tony Scott is planning on using only the well-known gangs and giving them ridiculous numbers,so I wouldn't count on seeing many gangs.

I'm also hearing that they will be using real gangs in the movie. Keeping the peace shouldn't be a problem because nowadays street  gangs aren't as territorrial as back then, and they dont hate each other as much as you think. Now, street gangs are more about money and power than they are about turf & rumbles. Nobody fights anymore. Its all about killing. And if there are real gang members in the new movie, they will not risk having the whole movie scrapped just to kill somebody they coulda killed before or after the movie. Most Bloods & Crips around my way, as well as in California, may not like each other but they are more worried about gettin money than they are worried about some other gang. If anything, I think the hardest part is going to be getting all those gangbangers around all those cops & security on the set. As far as them needing new gangs, I thingk the real gang approach is best, seeing how neither the Warriors novel or movie used real gangs, and I was always disappointed that they didn't. And now that it's 2007 and not 1977, I dont think a bunch of mimes, baseball clowns,  and kung fu monks(Riffs) will instill as much fear  (which the gangs are meant to do) as the Athens Park Bloods, Grape Street Crips, 18th Street gang and MS-13(Mara Salvatruca) would have on a gang far from home in rival territories.
