the rogue wrote:im sorry bud but i hate the actors you used, i mean the warriors is a tought gang and i dont whant any preety boys like brad pitt playing the leader. if you use youg actors that arent well known it gives the movie the sense of wow these guys are from the street, they talk bad they look bad etc...

also most of the actors you chose are way to old to play the part
again, I chose well known actors and rap musicians to play certain roles..I think Ice Cube and Method Man would be perfect...and someone like Heath Ledger or maybe even Pitt could play Swan's role to a tee...both actors have been around long enough to take on any role..and I would not exactly call some of these guys I selected as "old"....having unknown actors which might be the case as you stated, will not draw as well as having actors you are familiar with...that is show business...heh

Eliza Dushku would make a GREAT Mercy, I really want to see her get more big roles. NO NO NO on Brad Pitt, and instead of Ben Stiller, when I first looked at the poster, I thought you had Seth Green as Cowboy. Now I feel stupid. Lawrecne Fishburne would make a good Cyrus. For one of the Warriors, it doesnt matter which, but I'd just love to see him in this movie, I'd cast Carlos Bernard (Tony Almeda on 24). Those are just my ideas.

let unknowns stay unknown..make the movie right for our money..with semi to well known actors..and you'll have yet another hit...back in the 70's when "Warriors" was made, it was a different time..unknowns could be casted back then with nothing to lose..but for the remake in this day and age, you will once again need recognized actors...as you can see, most remakes today do not use unknowns..but recognized actors...look at the remakes made.."Assault on Precint 13", "The Manchurian Candidate", "Fantastic 4", "Bewitched", "War Of the Worlds", "ISpy", "Dawn of the Dead", etc..etc..

Thank god,you are not a film maker, because you have no clue as too how the business works.
You have a very good point, but let history tell the tale,by looking at the money these remakes you are defending earned?! with name or semi-name actors.
According to LeesMovieInfo.com The #1 source in Box-office grosses..

Assault on Precinct 13
Production Budget: $25.00 million
has grossed: $19.976073 million
The Movie Tanked...

Manchurian Candidate
Production Budget: $80.00 million
has grossed: $65.949000 million
The Movie Tanked

I Spy
Production Budget: $70.00 million
has grossed: $37,949,000
The Movie Tanked

Dawn of the Dead
Production Budget: $45.00 million
has grossed:$58.885635 million
The Movie is a Blockbuster

Here are my future predictions on your other movies..
War of the World: Blockbuster
Bewitched:Tank
Fantastic Four:Tank <--- this movie which takes place in NY was filmed in Vancouver,Who the hell are they kidding, and from the draft I read,It feels to much like another Incredible Hulk..

It's better to use an unknown because there is already a set audience for "The Warriors"..<-----see..you even heard of it,and people will see it anyway, cast unknowns into the film, and people will relate to it more, and at the same time be curious as to who is playing the role, and than my friend..and at the same time some promising upstart can get their big break, Look at a guy like Harrison Ford after American Graffitti,or Hugh Jackman after X-men or Brandon Lee after The Crow or think about a guy like Squall280 a promising thesipian, who in my opinion,I would love to see in this film, and you want to use a name,a name will never give a person like me or yourself the time of day,But a guy like James Remar would at least lend his voice to my man, MESTIZO69 for his Warriors remix jumpoff..
I still have love for you Niterun, but trust me,give an unknown a chance,is to watch a career develop in the process, cause I know,If they ask you to be in The Movie tommorrow, you would quickly not think about that name actor and go for yours, tell me I'm Wrong, and if Eliza Dushku was in it,I KNOW YOU WOULD NOT THINK TWICE ABOUT SOME NAME ACTOR rather than yourself?,Tell me I'm wrong!!! BoBo Back me up ....baby

I have yet to see a remake that holds up to the original, even more so a sequel that is able to get you as excited about the movie as the first. As for unknown actors, it really shows just how good an actor is if he/she can make a small or unknown film huge on their skill alone, not draw in crowds simply because they're a name. I usually don't go to those movies knowing i'll be let down.

You have some valid points Tantive..but you are right on one thing, I am not a film maker, just a plain ol fan...I still strongly disagree with you about using unknowns, the appeal is just not there for me and the casual audience, which are part of the buying logistic..I think what it is, if you are wanting to use unknowns all around..then a lot pf people on the board who have opted for Eliza such as yourself, are being hipporcriticial..she is quite liked, and well known since her start in "This Boy's Life"..people want to see Method Man, Leguizamo, I've read so many posts with these names being tossed around, and my point still stands..I agree with them...now I never claimed any of these remakes using semi or well known actors were Oscar material, some of them were good hits, others tanked, it all depends on the fan and the critics..just cause Ebert and the other guy do not like it, does not mean Variety or another trade show or publication won't rate it as very good, it all comes down to the person and their personal preference..I personally enjoyed the remake of "Assault on Precint 13", but that's just me as a fan...what I feel you are trying to go for is the main roles to be filled in the film by unknowns, that of Swan, Ajax, maybe Cleon...big mistake..you need someone who has already broken into the market and can do the roles..now Heath Ledger, who is very versatile, can easily play Swan...if they are going to make the movie like a Hong Kong Martial arts thingy, people will just call it a Matrix ripoff except from the streets..if there are actors in there atleast some people know, then the fans will agree that the Scott is serious about this remake, and has chosen some good actors to be in it..I will still see it regardless, it is just my preference to see some known actors in roles like these..I think it will be exciting to see that, to test them, to see how they can go from their type casts, to playing those of gangsters...an Unknown can do it too, but who really cares? ask yourself this, with the exception of James Remar, Michael Beck, Deborah Van Valkenburg, Lynn Thigpen (R.I.P), David Patrick Kelly, and Mercedes Ruehl, which other cast members in the original went on to exciting and known projects in acting? For many of these unknowns that were in the original, it was their first and last film, some of them went on to other kinds of work, others just fizzled out, but Hill selected these core actors cause they did have some prior experience, and it worked for him....on that point, I would not mind if it was a split, using some known and unknown actors, that might work..I would still opt for known actors to be the magority, but I guess we all have to just wait and see who he casts and then we can take it from there..

yes but did you or did you not love the warriors. i know i did and preety much everybody else on this forum. and you know something the movie was a bunch of unknows and they stayed that way cause the movie was controversial. who is better to play and down on himself gang member who is broke and aint got nothing then some no name brand actor who is broke and down on himself. i think he can get into the role alot better than your celebrity making 60 million a year. or your rapper raping about the ghetto from him 12.5 million dollar malibu mansion

Lol..ok I guess I am tired of reiterating my stance all the time...I love the "Warriors", always have and always will..I would not be here on this forum as a member if I didn't..now as far the upcoming remake is concerned, I prefer well known to semi-known actors, not unknowns..and that is the last time I am saying this...that is my preference and always will be, if Scott casts unknowns I will still see it regardless...if he casts knowns, I will still see it and enjoy it more....that's all.

The only real problem for me is AGE----most of the NAME actors everyone is tossing about here are all TOO OLD !!
Lawrence Fishbourne is too old for Cyrus--even if he is cool--
So is Samuel Jackson. I just couldn't buy them being 18 to 23---great actors or not.

they would have to be YOUNG looking name actors, SIGH--so I am not sure what way they will choose to go with this. I think maybe they should be looking at some of the new TV young actors--the faces would be familar to a lot of people, and the names would draw too-and they could come up with some fantastic talent too.

Josh Stewart and Ryan Gosling, Jake Gyllenhaal, come to mind, I know that MB was 28-29 when they were filming Warriors and James Remar was in his mid twenties-let their hair go-and they made okay gang bangers---but they were borderline teenagers at best--18-20.
NOBODY ever pegged them for 16 or teenyboppers----Rembrant was the only one that even came close---SO I think it is going to have to depend some on how they set this gang up age wise as to who they will be casting, and what look they will be looking for.
