GLORY ROAD

Post by warlord jp »

Well i wasnt into this movie until i heard its one of the few popular things that el paso tx(where i live has). This movie is about our team (texas western) which is the basketball team now know as utep miners. The owner of the texas western Don haskins( we live like 20 minutes from him and the stadium i think ) was the first person in basketball to put 5 black players in the team in a championship. Since there was racism back then, the most black players a team put was like 2...RARELY, but in the season, don haskins wanted to spread a message acroos, and he put 3 black playerS to play, but when they got to the championship, he decided to put all 5 black players to play to help spread his message accross, and THEY WON!~! 8)  This message has a great impact on the nba, and im glad to live in the same city where don haskins live. And i live like 20 minutes from where all happened. You guys should watch it... i recommend it. 8)

I don't know man, these movies about high school or college kids are getting old already.  I mean, you've got the typical teacher helping the loser class (or person) and the coach helping the school team (or person).  Here are some examples:

Friday Night Lights
Stand and Deliver
The Program
All the right moves
Coach Carter
Half Nelson
Dangerous Minds
Hoosiers
Freedom Writers....etc.
