I always thought Janet Leigh was the scream queen so Jamie Lee Curtis should have been the scream princess

There seems to be a lot of hype surrounding Wolf Creek. I have been burned by good buzz before but the commercials look pretty good. Any insight fellow horror fans?

hi gonzo i too was taken in by all the hype,,its loosly based on a big serial killer we had here a few years back which they finally caught his name is IVAN MILAT and hes a few furies short of a baseball team let me tell u,they say he,s killed alot more then hes admitted to only 7 proven so far, anyway the movie is kinda short and you expect more brutality but it leaves you hanging for more its weird ,its not too bad but its not quite what it should have been, check it out though dont let me put you off

It's all the storyline not just effects. But once you see something in the old movies in your mind it's been done and you look to see what's going to entertain you next and top the thing you last saw. Today effects ARE important simply because we expect them to paint the picture clearer. Hey it's eye candy. But effects alone don't make it without a kickass screenplay and decent acting.

I agree w/Twitch, effects don't always do it. Horror movies older than 15 years had to mess w/your head otherwise the lame-o effects would just be gory, but not significant.
I happen to have this one horror/oddball movie called "Freaks" made in the early 1930's, and it features real circus sideshows and drama within the group. Unless medical conditions scare you it can't be considered a horror flick in my opinion but it still kicks. I like it because the only real effects are the sideshow folks. Anybody else seen/heard of it?

Despite all my rage, I am still just a rat in a cage...

i really like old horror films but new ones are pretty lame.

these are my favourites:
1. night/day/dawn of the dead (romero)
2. halloween
3. IT
the modern films are just real lame. the only recent horror's i enjoyed was:
1. saw
2. wrong turn
but these wern't magic.

Hey Wolf!! Your favorites are all great and I liked both newer movies you mentioned. I really haven't been scared by a movie since Blair Witch Project. Today's movies seem to rely more on blood and guts and shock value than in truely scaring the audience. I am still waiting for the next great horror movie. And I don't think Hostel will be it.

the blair witch project would have been good if it i thought it was based on a true story...
too much emphasis on special effects is just wrecking films. Now im on the sunbject this is how i see it.
more and more pocket money for younger kids = they are now the most profitable market and high action and special effects to make £££.
please not: there are real young ones on this website but they are super special and well advanced for their age (esp. you bobo
) so i aint reffering to all youths..just the average. 8)
