Final Destination 3 S.E. DVD

The new special edition dvd has a cool feature that I haven't seen before called "Choose Your Own Fate". At different points in the film (usually leading up to someone's death), a screen pops up where you have to choose between 2 options (heads or tails, go left or right, ect.).
Depending on what you choose, the movie will either continue the way it was originally shown in theaters, or with new scenes.
This is a great idea, but unfortunately the film is just using deleted scenes or different takes on certain scenes. I really hope in the future some filmaker will think about this feature while shooting & film extra scenes specifically for a feature like this.
I'll tell you about the differences, so be advised that SPOILERS FOLLOW if you haven't seen this movie yet or want to be surprised.
The first change is also the most dramatic one. Before the doomed students get on the rollercoaster, they flip a coin to see who gets to sit up front. One choice has the film coontinue as usual, the other has the main character talk all her friends into getting off the ride. Unfortunately if you choose this, the movie ENDS, (cause there's no movie I guess if no one dies
).
Almost all the other choices only affect the angles, or slight changes in the way they die, but they still die. It is possible to save only one character from death, but he then dissappears for the rest of the movie and is not seen or spoken about again. Like I said, this would have been much better if they actually shot specific footage for this feature.
All in all, the dvd is only 12.99 at circuit city, and not much more elsewhere. I think the movie on it's own merits a buy (see my review), the special features are only the icing on the cake.
