I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer

Post by Marlboroprojects »

This is the direct to video remake of I Know What You Did Last Summer that came out the other day. When I first heard about it, I was hoping it would be a little closer to Louis Duncan's book, but since there really aren't any deaths in the book I guess it wouldn't make a good horror flick. Anyway, I had mixed feelings about this movie.

**********************SPOILERS BELOW***************************************************

The story takes place in a small town in Colorado. A bunch of high school friends plan a prank at the 4th of July carnival based on the "killer fisherman urban legend". The prank goes bad & one of the kids is accidentally killed. His 4 friends decide to keep the prank a secret, so they don't get in trouble.

Fast foward to the following summer, where like the original, the group of four is pretty messed up over the secret they are keeping and are no longer really friends. They have to regroup though when they start getting messages saying "I know what you did last summer".

The movie was really good up until the last 15 minutes or so, with various red herrings over who the killer might be. Could it be the original victim's father, who is chief of police, one of his deputies, or the kid's cousin? Unfortunately, this all falls apart when we learn the killer is actually Ben Willis, the fisherman from the first 2 movies who has come back from the dead and is now an unstopable killing machine ala Jason or Michael Myers. Thats where the movie falls off from a pretty decent remake to a cheasy direct to video sequal.

I heard in the original script it was gonna be a regular person who was seeking revenge doing the killing. I wish they left it like that. Oh well. If you like the first 2 you should like this too. The body count is higher & it is bloodier than the first 2.

Sounds ok, the first 2 were pretty decent horror movies. The first one was my favourite though.

I might see if i can find this for cheap somewhere.
