Planet of the Apes

you know I was observing all 5 of these movies, and realize the hidden metaphors in them.  For instance, when you look at the last one, battle for the planet of the apes.  Was the statue of Ceaser  crying because the war was finally over, or because this should not have happened in the first place, making it overwhelming?  Or in the first one when Cornelious says "Beware the beast man, for he is the Devil's pawn, Alone among God's primates, he kills for sport or lust or greed, Yea, he will murder his brother to possess his brothers land.  Let him not breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert of his home and yours.  Shun him,  he is the harbinger of death."  Somehow I must agree, that we as people might be the root of all evil.  Its horrible to say, but it makes an interesting point.  What are everyone elses thoughts on the movie, or any other message it has.

Man, Planet is classic, I have the dvd's!  Good points, I naver thought of that!

Ape shall not kill ape!

I loved these films as a kid (still do). Not so impressed with the tv series tho.

The more i think about the films, the more i get a headache.  Its the whole time travel cause and effect concept.  The future apes travel back in time to give birth to the first talking ape, which leads to the start of the ape evolution.  A lot of people write these off as some dumb sci fi films, but a lot of thoght went into them.  I like the fact that they go full circle and part 1 follows part 5.

exactly, the movie has the type of complexity that makes you take every symbol into consideration.  Thats why I like it, because I always believed in the philosophy that the world tends to fold up into meanings and answers that express its true nature.  Its amazing how it starts off with just a few astronauts finding their way off a world they do not understand, all the way to an evolution that can not be stopped no matter what obstacle it is put through.  A lot of significant aspects to this movie.
