HONG KONG - Bruce Lee's classic 1973 film, "Enter the Dragon," will be remade by Warner Bros.

The remake, to be titled "Awaken the Dragon," will be written and directed by Kurt Sutter, producer of "The Shield" TV series. It will be released by Warner Independent Pictures.

In an e-mail Thursday to The Associated Press, Warner Bros. publicist Laura Kim said the movie will tell the story of an FBI agent who investigates a Shaolin monk and underground kung fu fight clubs.

China's Shaolin Temple is renowned for its martial-arts tradition.

Kim declined to reveal the casting choices, budget or shooting schedule.

Lee played a kung fu fighter who infiltrates an island occupied by a rogue martial arts artist in "Enter the Dragon."

He died in 1973, at 32, from swelling of the brain.

Lee was known for movies in which he portrayed characters that defend the Chinese and the working class from oppressors.

He was born in San Francisco but grew up in Hong Kong, where he made his name as an actor.

I can't get excited about this.  Name one recent remake that has been anywhere near as good as the original.  This movie has already been "re-made" to death by every tournament styled fight-flick to come out sence.  Anybody remember Bloodsport?  Both Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter owe a lot too ETD.  As usual, Hollywood is just trying to cash in on name recognition - to their credit, at least they changed the title a bit.

If they really wanted to do the Lee legacy some justice, someone would re-make "Circle of Iron".  It is a little known flick that Bruce was writing/developing just before he died.  After his death, the script was completed and the movie got made with David Caradine of Kung Fu/Kill Bill fame.  The movie sucked but the concept had potential.  It was a kung fu fantacy epic before kung fu fantacy epics were the norm.  Done today, it could be quite good.

I wonder if this is going to be scraped.  Because for a long time, they wanted to do another mad max, called Mad Max: Fury Road.  But after all that George Miller, just droped it.  WHo knows if this will get made or not.

Big movie to try and remake.  I loved Enter the Dragon.  Bruce lee is a legend, good luck trying to remake such an awsome flick..."Suddenly Mr. Han I like to leave this island."

they cant be doing this surely not
why cant they come up with original scripts anymore this craze over going over really good, one off, well made movies from the 70's is becoming a complete joke!
this film has major coolness, you just cant replacte that now, times have changed.
if they wannna do justice to this film spruce it up and re-release it in the movie theatres,dvd,blue-ray and all the other formats they have these days, and let all the kids see it and fall in love with it all over again!
not some half-assed mtv remake! :doubt:
