I just got back from seeing it.  Basically its like a remake of Charles brownsans Death Wish, but with a female verson instead.  It bought a more realistic up to date version, and I think using Jodie Foster for the role, and seeing it through a womans eyes makes this a very good movie.  But like I said, if you see it, the movie is just like  Death Wish, even up to the "ending", but regardless, I think you all will like it.

When I look at it on the commercial it seems like a good movie about a woman that defends herself because of gangs and stuff. Yeah Death wish was a good movie too so this should be as good as Death Wish was.

Yes indeed, this could pass as a remake, though I think it has a bit more impact because it's a woman this time and not a man carrying a cannon getting rid of the local gangs.

Exactly Lions.  Its not meant to be a stylized gun fight.  Its about an ordinary woman who becomes naother essence in a mad and fearful world.  Not an action hero, but someone who entered a dark area, we are not sure if we could, or ever would want to go there.

Yes, it seems as if sometimes hollywood trys to step away from the so called "Justified" hero, and takes the step into the anti-hero approach.  The ending was the coolest wasn't it.  Especially the surprise that Terrence Howard gives the audience.

I went and saw this movie today and as a woman there are so many issues about fear that they touched on that I find myself thinking about too, I'm not sure that I would be able to do the things that Jodie Foster's character does in the movie, but if an act of violence happened to me I would want to take steps to ensure it never happened again, or ever. And of course I just loved it as a movie in general too, finally the movie makers go down the dark path and none of this redeeming crap cause you know you would want to do it too.
