Chapter 1. Newblood.
A young girl sprinted down the alleyway. 3 policemen chased after her ordering her to hault. She simply flipped them the bird and kept on running. Jumping fences. She had jumped 2 until she came across one with a loose wire. She carelessly jumped it, cutting her leg. She winced in pain and limped her way behind a dumpster. "I know you're out here, kid." "Show yourself!" A cop said. A glass bottle was heard shattering into the distance.
"Sht! you hear that?" Another said. All 3 cops sprinted to the noise. The young girl held her leg in pain. "Hey kid!" A woman said. The woman looked about 25. She had a navy blue jacket with a cursive pink "L" on the back. Unzipped a bit revealing a tie-die shirt underneath. She wore trim light blue jeans and brown loafers. Her har was brown and really curly and poofy. Her skin was really pale She stared at the girl.
The girl looked about 14 or 15. She had long chestnut hair halfway between it curly and straight. Sort of swirvy. She had a tan. She was of Hispanic desent. she wore a white T-shirt with black slightly baggy jeans. She wore pink addidas.
"Let's see the leg." The woman said. The girl showed her the wound. "Ouch...here come with me. I'll get you cleaned up." She said and motioned her to follow. The girl was uneasy to trust a stranger. But she thought "what the hell?". The woman took the youth to the bowery in Manhatten.
As they got in a house, 11 girls were sleeping on the couches, and on the floors. "What's you're name, kid?" The woman asked fixing the girl's leg. "Chanel." She replied. "I'm Starr." The woman introduced herself. "Lizzies! Wake up!" Starr barked. Chanel studied the decorated logo on a white wall. It was huge. It nearly covered the enitre wall.
It was a pink cursive logo with the decoration of a lilly and a butterfly on the corners. It read in pink script "The Lizzies". Starr got agitated as none of the girls moved, responding to her order. "LIZZIES!" She shrieked. All of them rose to her shriek. "Arg..loud banshee..." A wavy black haired woman growled angrilly and yawned. "Girls, get over here." They did as they were told.
"This is Chanel." Starr introduced. "Chanel, as you can see from the burner, we're The Lizzies." She added. "..and we can use a solid lady lieutenant like yourself, sister." Starr stood up finished fixing Chanel's wound. "Thanks." Chanel smiled meekly. "No problem." Starr said. "So what do you say, you want in with the Lizzies?" Starr's 2nd in command Lizzie asked.
"Oh Please! Starr, you're gonna recruit this hoodrat?" The wavy black haired woman scowled. "Hollie! Shut the hell up." Another Lizzie sighed and rolled her eyes.
"I got you're hoodrat right here, bimbo." Chanel snapped. "I'm saying, WarLady...if you're gonna recruit, have better taste than this trash." Hollie scowled snobbishly.
"Don't tempt me,bimbo." "I'll knock you flat on your non-existant ass!" Chanel said fiercly. "You wanna die you little--" Hollie was held back by 2 other Lizzies. Chanel waved her hands in the air. "What!" "What!" She said. "Whatchu gon' do, slut? Call your pimp?" "Go pick the mattress lint off your back." Chanel flipped hollie the bird.
"You don't belong with the Lizzies." Hollie growled. "Hollie! Shut your fat face! Damn! You're giving me a F*cking headache." Starr groaned. "Look Chanel, we really can use a lady soldier like you." Starr said once again. "What will the other gangs think if the big bad-ass Lizzies recruit a teenager?" Chanel asked. "How old are you?"Â The 2nd in command Lizzie asked.
"14. I'll be 15 in 8 months." Chanel replied. "That's a reasonable age. I don't think anyone will talk." "If they do, we'll rumble those cripples." She said cracking her knuckles. "Right on Lisa." Starr smiled. "The Lizzies are like one big family." Lisa smiled.
Family...
That word sunk into Chanel's thoughts. Echoing through her mind. Repeating itself over and over. All she could think about was the day her parents and brothers died in a car accident. Her older sister abandoned her years ago.
"Are you ok?" A Lizzie soldier asked. "Y-yeah..." Chanel murmured. "Ok. I'll do it." she submitted.
"Solid! First you gotta prove youself." Starr stated.
"How messed up. She askes me to join then she tells me I gotta prove myself? What the hell?" Chanel thought.
"We gotta even things out with the Boppers. They think they can rip us off and we won't go after their asses 'cause we're chicks!" "The Lizzies aint gonna let that fly." Lisa said.
"So what can I do?" Chanel said with a slight hint of eagerment in her voice. "Let's take a subway to Harlem right now and I'll explain." Starr said as she rounded up the Lizzies. "Come on Starr! It's the frikkin middle of the night!" A Lizzie whined. "Let's go Lizzies!" Starr ignored her. "Come on Chanel." Starr thumped her on the back. Chanel swallowed her pride and followed the Lizzies to the platform in Union Square.
