Did anyone catch last weeks episode? It had a few scenes that took place in the Big CI!!! I dig the show. For those who don't know the show, it's about a detective in NY who gets hit by a car and wakes up in 1973. Here is the homepage:

I wouldnt mind watching this version. The british original show was well scripted and popular enough to have a spin off series. If its as good as that, then you've got yourselves some good tv viewing ahead of you.
If you find any links that enables non u.s residents to view episodes, let me know.

I don't know about the original show in the UK, but there is a link on the site I gave. Click on "full episodes" at the top and then on "Life on Mars". I hope it works. I am guessing but, the American version is probably not as good as the original.

Just watched the UK version and the ending was kick ass!! I think it is better than the US. I also just watched the spin off "Ashes to Ashes" and it is pretty cool too. The first episode, where Gene and his two side kicks get out of the quatro was so 80's and there are a lot of other funny 80's references (for those of old enough to remember).

Series 2 of ashes to ashes is not far off. Should be part of the new year line-up.
Both shows have some simularities to the tv show (and later a movie) called the singing detective.

Saw some of the ashes episodes online, great 80's references and style. Pretty good show, can't wait for next season.

I'm finally getting around to this on DVD, and on the commentary of the episode with Whoopi Goldberg, the creators said that her Radio DJ character was directly influenced by the Warriors!

I watched a few episodes of the American adaptation, but I never got into it. The BBC version, on the other hand, is quite possibly my favourite TV show of all time. I'm eagerly awaiting the final season of Ashes to Ashes for this reason, though IMO Ashes to Ashes isn't quite as good as Life on Mars was.
Also, Gene Hunt is god. "Don't move, you're surrounded by armed bastards!"
