I caught an episode of the American version and it was almost a word for word copy of the English version.  :? Why not just show the English version instead of starting from scratch with American actors? You jacked our show!  Sorry peeps, but David Brent just can't be duplicated...

Despite what I've said above, I'd love to see how the American version handled the infamous 'charity' episode. Does he do the silly dance like the Brentmeister General?

I've never actually caught an episode but I listened to a prank call on www.ebaumsworld.com and it was hillarious. :)

That was my impression as well. Ricky Gervais' humour is not for me really.

I loved this show (U.S. version) through Season 3. It started going downhill a little during Season 4, possibly due to the writer's strike, and I stopped watching completely in the middle of Season 5.

It used to seem "smarter" than other comedy series out there, but they apparently started dumbing it down to reach a wider audience (and more advertising dollars). Now all it needs to be just another sitcom is a three-camera format and a laugh track. Maybe a catchy theme song, too.
