What's that all about. :?

Wimps who like skipping around while the true men play the sport.

Is it quite a new thing?

If you reeeely watched MTV a couple years ago, you may have seen this guy flouncing around:

They had a reality show called camp jim where he was teaching girls with zero coordination how to be bona fide cheerleaders.  Hmmm...  When he screamed loud enough, he sorta sounded like my mother.

Speaking in their defense---they are great---and usually above average athletes, some have gymnastic backgrounds!!  When the two girls throw the top girl up--it is the guy behind spotting, who will catch her, and then the guys on the base will throw the two girls up in unison, and they'll do some jump pose, and the guys will catch them.
ONe of our  HS guys who was a football (gained over 100+ yards a game average for 2 years) and track star-(now he is a Navy Seal)-didn't care for basketball---so when BB season was on, he helped the girls do their lifts and helped catch them when they did pop jumps---and then everytime the guys scored a basket--on the next clockstop-he would back handspring, back flip down the courtside.
And when he did it---then a couple others that were not footballers started doing the same when the football team made a touchdown- and sometimes during wrestling meets too-and he and one of the girls would handspring past each other in opposite directions.
With the guys added strength---the girls had much better spotters for their lifts, jumps and pyramids--like in the picture--and makes the routines look a lot more athletic.

ANd after TRavis started it---and other schools saw him---that is what their cheer squads started pushing for, and now it is a big deal---really big in college too--where they really get gymnastic about their cheers.  Takes better than average coordination, enough guts to perform infront of a crowd, sometimes by yourself,  and strength to never drop your partners.

I'm sure you're correct RG.

I just think it's wussy and doesn't look right ;).

I went to School in Yorkshire and you would be beaten to death for even thinking of doing this sort of thing.
