I think we (Wings) actually did pretty well all things considered. I honestly don't know of another team in the NHL who could lose their two most influential players (Stevie Y and Shanny) and still finish at the top of their conference.

We proved a lot of people wrong this year e.g People were saying that the bigger, stronger Flames and Sharks were going to hammer us but that of course did not come to fruition.

We were unlucky with the results against the Ducks aswell, If Andreas Lilja hadn't made that mistake to allow Teemu in early on in the series I reckon it would've been the Red Wings lifting Lord Stanley's cup. Gotta give the Ducks credit though. They played hard and beat us out of the playoffs. Roll on next season.

On a side note, my grandfather arrived home from Canada this morning and what did he have for me?
A Henrik Zetterberg Red Wings Jersey... Yaaay!

you have a point about losing stevie y and shanny.it shall be interesting to see who shall be the next generation of legendary players who come up through the red wings ranks.

Defensemen like Brett Lebda and Niklas Kronwall are coming through fast aswell as guys like Valterri Filpulla and Jiri Hudler on offense.

The two young stars on this team of course are Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk. Probably the best tandem in the NHL and they're both still well under 30. I don't think our 16 year playoff streak will be ending anytime soon as long as we have guys like them.
