Just got something in the mail from Sony...don't know if y'all have heard about this but apparently some ofthe PS2's AC adapters are faulty and are being recalled.
These adapters were peckaged with the SPCH-70011 and SPCH-70012 models of the PS2 console sold after October 2004. These adapters were made by "Hipro Electronics" (Hmm., electronics....maybe the Electric Eliminators didn't get the message that they found who shot Cyrus....lol).
Only AC adapters with a manufacture date of "2004.08," "2004.09," "2004.10," "2004.11," "2004.12," and a serial number beginning with "F3" will need to be sent back to Sony. If you have one of these adapters, go to http://www.us.playstation.com and look for the link "Safety Notice, PlayStation 2 AC Adaptor Replacement Program." They will ship you a replacement adaptor and you will be asked to return the recalled AC adaptor in the reusable shipping carton with a prepaid shipping label that will be provided.
However, you will need to keep the original AC power cord to use with the replacement adaptor.
Also, please do not use your PS2 while waiting for the replacement adaptor.
I just wanted to post this message in case you guys didn't already know. I sure didn't want one of your guys' PS2 AC adaptors to explode and cause someone to wind up like one of the Orphans!

xbox had the the same problem with adapters that came with launch xboxs.
