Slipknot is a really well-known band around here, and I know a lot of kids in my area that like them. But the Lost prophets....I don't think too many people around here know of them, I have heard of them, but I don't think I've heard any of their music.

UFO is easily about the most underrated band of all time. Schenker (Their guitar player) can shred better than a lot of guitarists, yet he doesn't get credit for it.

I personally find Journey to be a hugely underrated band as they are just friggen amazin Steve Perry is an excellent singer and they didnt really get the reognition they deserved.

I also think Motorhead r supremely underrated. A lot of people i no just go like "Motorhead... bluh... heavy metal nonsense" but they dont get praise for their finer hard rock/blues tracks and people cant get past the fact they effectively invented what is now known as speed metal.

i agree wtih you there mate.. Journey are very underated. Before i first spoke to you i hadn't a clue who Journey was, but i had heard most of their songs.. There songs are ver well known, but Journey arent given any credit for them I don't think.

You look for "Don't Stop Believin'" on File sharing networks and a lot of the time you get bands like "Foreigner" or "Jefferson Starship", it's pretty annoying.

Another band who I really don't think gets enough credit for their songs is Oasis. They are good musicians and write great songs. Back in the day (a.k.a the 90's... not so far back in the day, I know) they were legends in their own time. But now with all these new bands, I often think that they're a band that time forgot. Noel Gallagher is as hilarious as ever and still writes good music, all though it's not as good as it was in the 90's.
Basically, they wrote the soundtrack to my youth and I can't get over the fact that people regard them as "past it" now.

I don't agree with you there.. Well I do, because Oasis are an amazing band, write exceptional songs. But if you asked anyone in my area what bands they liked I will guarantee one most of them will say Oasis. But saying that i live 25 minutes away from Manchester where Oasis originated.. But wherever i go I always meet an Oasis fan.

Turnbull mate, lostprophets are amazing and very well heard of up here. I don't normally go for that kind of Rock but they are very good.

I actually think Supergrass are underated, they are a very talented group from the 90's. Wrote some amazing songs such as Alright (tune!), Caught by the fuzz, Pumping on your stereo and my favourite Moving.. look em up people.
I also think Thin Lizzy are underated, obviously most of you guy will disagree but where I live it seems like only me and my ex-girlfriends uncle like them.

Maybe it is just up here, don't get me wrong, a number of my pals like Oasis, but a helluva lot of people go "Oasis?... blurgh... boring".

This is a tough thread because to under-rate an album you have to be a fan of a genre.  For example, if you are a hip-hop fan and you rank you're 10 favorites you may place someone lower on your list than others.  But, if you are not a fan of that genre, nobody is rated one way or the other.  So I could say, Greenday is under-rated, but if you don't like that style of music, what's the difference?

Ten Years After

Some of the older members might know who I'm talking about. Really really good blues rock band from the late 60s to the mid 70s. To me, they are amazing. Alvin Lee is one of the most underrated guitarists out there. If you watch I'm Going Home at Woodstock on YouTube or on the movie WoodStock, you'll see what I mean. Simply amazing band that's somewhat lost in time.

I can't agree more. UFO is awesome! KISS is another underrated band. Yeah everyone knows of them and their name is as widley known as Coca-Cola but everyone always says "KISS, oh yeah the guys with the makeup." If you listen to any of their albums you know that they are much more than makeup. They're are only a handful of their 247 songs that I don't like. The rest are pure gold.

Yes! KISS is underrated to some. I mean, they have over 20 million fans all over the world, but still. Although, I think some of their stuff (Lick It Up, Animalize, Creatures of The Night, and Unmasked) don't really seem too good, but their early stuff and Revenge are great! I also think Asylum, Crazy Nights, and Hot In The Shade are great as well. :D
